Haltech is about to release a similar unit. Its alot cheaper, but that still doesnt really make it "cheap". I might get one some day, but not at the moment.
Ive stripped my entire car of wiring and Im re-wiring the entire thing from scratch using a simple hot rod style universal kit. There will...
I suggest a flex joint in the main pipe from the runners to the turbo, then a bracket from the turbo to the body. Some heat wrap/coating would be a good idea too, keeping the heat inside the manifold pre-turbo keeps the pressure up, which might be an issue on such a large manifold.
Its a...
Wow! Thats crazy big!!
While the car is up on stands....dont suppose you could snap a few pics of your dump and exhaust could you? Looks like its pretty impressive from what I can see. :)
Yeah "melty" was the word I used, it was an exaggeration. I didnt mean to suggest its literally going to melt all over the floor. All metals lose their strength way before they melt, this is the issue. Aluminium also has the issue of high thermal expansion, twice as much as steel.
Its water cooled, an exhaust isnt.
If you read the rest of the thread you see full race has recommended not running an aluminium dump pipe either, and that although a cat back could be alloy, it will eventually crack/break due to the thermal expansion.
Whats the bet the people having a sook about a lack of details here, will be the same people who put their name down and then dont pay a deposit when the time comes.
Lol, relax dude. Hes just gauging interest. Sounds like hes not 100% on which parts hes going to use for the kit at this stage. Im sure there will be details once theyre decided. ;)
Aluminium melts at 660°C/1220°F, there are alloys which melt higher than that, but not by much.......Ive heard of cars running aluminium exhausts, but only towards the rear of the car and certainly not for a 1200hp drag car dump pipe.
Link to drag cars using aluminium dump pipe?
Looks good. Does you unit have data logging? Im looking at using a IQ3 dash, which is a similar unit but works with my Haltech.
RE: 'on sale'. We say something is 'on sale' when the price is dropped temporarily, when the price has become cheaper permenantly, we just say the price has dropped. ;)
Ive seen W58s survive for years holding 600rwhp! (And thats proper Australian hp, not those cheating american hp numbers)....Doesnt mean its a good idea to rely on one.
This car used to have an R154 and, apart from the savage brass button clutch, I loved it! Ive driven plenty of V160 equiped...
