Sound clips: 1 2 3 4
I stripped out the video, it was too dark and the camera wouldn't focus. I must say, it's sooooo much quieter when you're in the car (not at WOT though).
Chris89, you've been asking, you can hear my intake in the second and third clips.
The gravel like noise is the...
Can't imagine why the OEM cap wouldn't work. The OEM rotor has a broad enough contact that it should be fine as well... no issue with the rotor cutting the spark duration.
I don't know what the source of the complaint is. It's not dampened like the stocker, the C's or the SSv3, that could be part of it. I suppose it could let a fair amount of vibration travel along the arm and might feel clunky when shifting as a result of the lack of dampening.
I'll try to find some time tomorrow to get a recording.
I suspect if I added a resonator my car would be close. I actually bought two of the Borla's, wanted to use one as a resonator... it was 3" too long. I'll probably still add a resonator, but not right now.
I've got a 2.5" Borla ProXS, stock cat and no resonator. I'm surprised at how much smoother my car sounds. It's not raspy and there's no popping that I've noticed aside from the expected rumble when coasting while in gear. I still may put on a resonator, I like a quiet exhaust.
Well, I've read a fair number of posts that say it's crap and a few that state that while it's not a nice as the C's or SS v3 it is an improvement.
That's the cheapest I've seen even that specific model go for though. (Of course there's still plenty of time for it to go up.)
I suppose that if...
The pucks (pistons) are fixed in pairs, they alternate so piston #1 and #3 are fixed and #2 and #4 are fixed, but 2 and 4 are independant of 1 and 3. The pistons act as both head and piston, or opposing pistons.
Yup, bio, they tried a blended fuel and said that full bio did even better.
He said in another video (I didn't watch that ^ one) that they were just using the compressed air to put it through the motions since they couldn't run the engine indoors.
Errr, which MAFT is "this MAFT"?
As for the sound. Naturally, it's louder. The whole intake track is open, there's no tiny 1.5" x 2" bottleneck with a trap door. It's loud, but it's not horrible... I'm not a fan of loud cars. Mine is loud, but it's plenty tolerable. Of course, with my air...
The most you can do is make sure it's breathing as easily as possible. Port and polished intake and exhaust mani's and P&P the head. Tweak the timing a bit. Good spark plug wires and spark plugs, possibly a capacitive ignition coil.
Beyond that you're looking at spending a fair amount of money.
There's so much more to designing an optimal intake system than you're covering with all these posts about hacking the ACIS and which size intake you're planning on running.
First off, my intake piping is only *slightly* larger than 2.75", it's about 2.8".
On a system using a stock AFM...
It's a lot to take pictures of it all, plus some are under the upper and lower intake manifolds.
