    Quarter panel protectors

Has anyone ever replaced the plastic, what I assume to be adhesive protectors that go on the quarter panels? (P/n's 58742, 58741, 58747, 58748) in the attached photo? Mine are faded and cracked and look like crap. Is is easy to do without screwing up the quarter panels?

Ensuring a straight steering wheel after rack replacement

Yes that is exactly what I am referring to. I'd say it requires me to keep the wheel at a good +15° in order for the wheels to be straight.

Ensuring a straight steering wheel after rack replacement

Following the TSRM I secured the steering wheel with a high tension bungee, that thing didnt move a bit once it was in place. I replaced the rack, and before reinstalling, I made sure the match marks on the universal joint and control valve shaft were lined up as best I could (I did the rack...

    tie rod bolt stretch

Here's the new aftermarket tie rod that I put in after I overtorqued the first one, as you can see, the cotter pin hole is above the castle nut but the rubber boot is in contact with the underside of the spindle arm. This is the opposite side; an aftermarket tie rod end only...

    tie rod bolt stretch

Well the new tie rod end arrived. I removed the old one, and compared the stud length to the new one, and they are the same. I installed the new one, with new hardware, and torqued it to 36 ft-lbs. The hole in the stud is again above the castle nut. So this tells me that I must have yielded...

    tie rod bolt stretch

Ok so my dumb ass over torqued my new tie rod end, where it connects to the spindle. The TSRM calls for like 36 ft-lbs, I took it to like 60+ and stretched the bolt so the hole for the cotter pin is way above the ridges of the castle nut. In other words, if I put the cotter through the hole in...

Inner Tie rod removal. Scratching my head

Ok well it's pretty pointless to do what I was describing above. I got the outers off by removing the cotter pin (after generous application of PB blaster), loosening castle nut, and smacking the shit out of the spindle 4-5 times. They popped right off. Who need's a puller?

Raybestos vs. Moog: Anyone used these aftermarket suspension brands?

I need new tie rod ends and lower ball joints. Rock Auto sells both these brands, with Raybestos being the more expensive of the two. I have read that many are satisfied with Moog's quality, but I have only heard Raybestos's name in brake components. Can anyone share an experience?

A quick question to all you toyota pimps out there....

As far as I know there is little difference between Ronnie K's products and Energy's. He makes all his bushings in various durometers. And he also makes the rack bushings in poly which Energy does not offer.

Inner Tie rod removal. Scratching my head

Can anyone tell me if it will damage the PS rack if you separate the inner and outer tie rods while the rack is in the car by completely unthreading the tie rods using the inner rod? This would be opposed to using a tool to remove the outer rod from the spindle and then unthreading it, instead...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Replaced rear main seal and resealed the rear main seal retainer, replaced reverse light sensor seal and speedo sensor seal on R154, installed new A/C compressor, new expansion valve, new transmission oil, coolant, and ATF for hydrofan and PS (only because I dumped all of it all over the floor)...

    power steering rack rebuild help

Why do you have to remove the tie rod ends anyway? Why cant you just loosen the clamp where the inner tie rod threads into the outer and then just rotate the inner rod until it unscrews all the way out of the outer tie rod? Will this damage the rack? I know you rotate the inner rod to adjust...

How do I get this hydrofan bolt off?

Yeah that's the high pressure line, I remember there being a lot of torque on that thing the first time I removed it too. 1/2" drive FTW!

    Cleaning the evaporator

jetjock, what filter did you use (assuming you are saying you used one in your supra)? I don't think cars even started coming with them until the early 2000's. I assume you found one that fit or trimmed one?

    Cleaning the evaporator

In the TSRM, it specifically states NOT to use water to clean the evaporator http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=AC&P=33 Can someone tell me why it would be a bad idea to do this? As long as you have the refrigerant port and suction port capped, and make sure not to...

Where to buy NEW A/C compressor/clutch for 1JZ

Any one have a reputable site you could recommend? I'm looking for a new compressor and clutch, not a remanufactured one. Based on what I've read, I should be able to use one from say a 98 mkiv correct? If so, I'm trying to beat $365 from Champion.
