I heard that if you wanna test if your know sensor work, you gotta let a warm engine idle, then knock on it with a hammer (no too hard) and if the rpm drops, that mean the ecu saw the knocking right?
I don't know but I had really low idle (400~rpm) and stalling sometime on a stock 7mgte. turn out my battery pole was too thin for the connector and the ecu would reset everytime I turned off the car. The ecu had to re-learn it's fuel and timing table and it would ran crappy for a day or two
Jdm "suprise" engine are a pain in the arse.
sure you can find the perfect gem: working in perfect condition, strong, freshly rebuilt, darn cheap.
but most of the time they have been sitting for "god knows" how long, something has gone bad or will etc... and you find yourself putting hundreds...
The pre-89 gauge cluster is much nicer IMO. there's a lot more gradutation and I like it more than my 89 cluster. Does the cluster from a pre-89 7m-gte manual fit a 89 7m-gte manual or do I need to hack some of the wire/connection/cable ?
if it's plugnplay ("bolt on") I will acquire a pre-89...
fixed it (kind of).
pulled the EFI fuse again, 15 min later put it back then I drove it for the day. no problem and everything fixed itself.
I didn't know that supra had adaptive ecu
mhhh, checked for code, no CEL code. Car doesn't idle fine anymore, it idle at around 400rpm, very rough. headlight dim with the rpm, drive fine otherwise, dash has yet to have another seizure on me. What is wrong with this car
my targa is leaking water (not that bad but a little), it's rainy outside and I took my car for a spin, engine die when I pull the clutch in (between gear and at stop sign), it randomly flashes somes light.
fluid battery light CEL doesnt matter they all come up at different time in a random...
