What benefits do Brian Crower 7mge/7mgte stage 2 Cams have?

My BC stage 2 cams work well. Except for the dizzy drive gear is out of sync.

    LPG carb size?

Yes the resonator has been replaced with a liquified petroleum gas (LPG) carb. LPG is mostly propane with a little butane + da di da di da. These conversions cost about $2500 in Australia but our government gives us a $2000 Back to the original question. Is there a replacement carb that...

    LPG carb size?

Anybody know if the impco 225 is a good size for my 7mge? I read somewhere its rated to 329cfm or 200hp. IS there a bigger one that can be substituted?? See pic below.

    Advice needed on block

I did the same on mine with a wire brush. Worked a treat. Just make sure there is no pitting, damage or indentation where the fire rings go around the bores. If so you will need to have it decked.

Installed ported head & dropped comp. on two cylinders

It's the Toyota 7m-ge law of diminishing returns. Did you lap the valves in with valve grinding paste etc or just clean them and install them??

    engine sound

Does it get louder under load?? Exhaust leaks and rod knock sounds tend to get louder under load. Tappets and injectors don't.

Brian Crower 7M cams and ignition timing issue

My idle is now very good with only three bodgie mods. 1. ECU tricked to think AC is always on. 2. Idle speed control valve drilled out from 12.2mm to 12.5 mm. 3. Pull up resisitor on the temp sensor makes the ECU increase the cold start idle up.

Brian Crower 7M cams and ignition timing issue

Blackcat looks good. I have two questions. 1. What gear was the selector in for this test? 2. What cam timing did you end up with?? Thanks BTW have a read of this guys ebay ad. He implies the BC cams have the dizzy gear out of sync. So I guess it has been noted by others also...

    No low end power??

Just a dsicussion point below. I read in a book once that if exhaust manifold velocity is too low then exhaust reversion can occur during the valve overlap period. i.e. the exhaust gas inertia is so low that the exhaust can be sucked back in at low rpm diluting the charge. This seems to fit...

    7MGE with GTE head+cams?

PM Blackcat and ask for a copy of his dyno sheet using GTE cams in a GE. Made good power up top. I think 116 RWKW not bad for an NA.

Brian Crower 7M cams and ignition timing issue

Well I would agree and I have the same cams. But this is not proof, just the experience of the only two people I know of that have fitted these cams and played with the timing. Andrew.

Brian Crower Stage 2 cams RPM operating range?

The only thing wrong is the fact he got his retard advance the wrong way around (as pointed out by Blackcat). The holes are equally spaced. Imagine a 5 spoke mag wheel fitted to a four stud hub. If the wheel is removed with one spoke pointing straight up and then refitted and rotated around one...

Brian Crower Stage 2 cams RPM operating range?

That is correct. He has got his advance and retard back to front.

Brian Crower Stage 2 cams RPM operating range?

You get more clamping force and less twisting force for the same torque setting when using studs rather than bolts. Mostly due to the condition of the thread in the block.

Brian Crower Stage 2 cams RPM operating range?

Get head studs. Forget head bolts. The factory cam wheel is a vernier wheel.:icon_bigg The cam is varied either by 3 or 4.5 cam degrees by moving the sprocket dowel pin by one position. It works on exactly the same principle as an old fashioned vernier scale and these wheels are often...
