there is a major difference between non projector and projector hid's. i have oem projector hids with 5k bulbs and perfect cut off that dont blind people.
engine doesnt matter for the car as long as the engine is built right and the OWNER keeps care of it. the engine can only do so much if the owner doesnt care about it.
most mk3's come with a 7mge or gte and some a 1jz which is illegal and a 2jz which can be legal as long as it has egr hooked up.
i see projectors in the benz at least i do. projectors project the light in to the pattern you see on walls. without them all you see is brighter light that blinds you like if you have super high beams in stock lights.
i hate those people that buy the cheapest brightest lights they can have and just blind the f@#$ out of you. you cant even see your own lane and your eyes are messed up even after they pass as you cannot look away as your driving and have to maek sure you dont hit the fool even tho cannot...

if your thinking about removing it i would keep it unless you have a afpr as it provides a back up for the stock fpr

Edit: 7m block new is around 2400 and the head is around 1100. so the 7m is still cheaper even new. you could have a brand new...
i dont think that the connector is different just that between n/a and turbo its flipped. i dont know for sure tho and would like to really know the answer.
