So I got the head off of my car tonight and came across some problems. On inspection of the HG, Head, Block this is what I found.
- HG was out of round on #1 and #6
- found my exhaust-> coolant leak on #1
- Head looked to be torqued to much, as the head had some sweet indents in it where...
Blue lights are attracted by driving like you stole it ;)
Drive like me (see grandma) and you'll have no problems
-->Super Dragger ftw. Although the bigass fart-can look is kinda annoying.
It'll be much quicker to take out the rears because you don't have TEMS compared to my job, but the first time took me about 4 hours in/out. I'm noob->moderate in my supra fixing skills. I've done it about 4 times now, and am down to 1.5 hrs to have the set in/out.
Shop time for strut...
The fronts will also have an M10 nut, vs a M8 on the rear. The rears shouldn't fit on the front as the bolt pattern is *just* slightly off but they can be forced in (whoops, I've done it once!). The fronts should have the front wheel speed sensor bracket though... If they don't then the only...
DO NOT cut your springs. Wait for them to settle. Intrax are known to sag so give it some time and next thing you know you'll be complaining the fronts are too low =D
On a side note, all springs I've dealt with had to be compressed to assemble them. This isn't a Honda that weighs next to nothing ;)
Wow dude, shitty deal.
You didn't even get a chance to come out to one of our meets :(
Did you ditch it going out to Sooke? btw, I'm sure there are some parts a bunch of us need from your car. Is it at your place yet?
200-300 is a steal. So far I've only seen 1 set of Tein HAs with stock mounts, ALL others (including mine) came with pillow ball mounts. If only 1 is blown I'd sell them for a bit more assuming condition (not rusty, pillow mounts etc.)
Rebuilding them is $80 a corner from Tein USA themselves...
The values are definitely *not* random. They do increase with RPM and with ambient temperature. If it's cold in the morning I get around 60 and it never breaks 100 on my way to school. On the way back, and around 25 degrees Celsius, it starts at about 90 ish and quickly sits around the 150-200...
I've wondered the same thing, and asked this a while back.
I have also noticed that evening driving vs. mid day driving, the knock values are quite different. On a hard pull you can definitely watch the ECU adjust timing as the knock values get high then fall back.
I'm going to say it...
lol, nah it's sweet. I love it. Not only does it cost next to nothing to run but also to insure!
I miss the supra, oh yes. But nobody looks down on a University student rockin' out the beater =D
