What does it do absorb heat? It looks like household insulation inside so wouldnt it keep heat in the engine bay like home insulation keeps heat in a house? My only guess to its benefits is that it would keep the hood from flexing due to excess heat.

What about the people that arent concerned with passing emissions? Im building My 88 CA model into a track car, so I dont see any benefit to me keeping the EGR on my car. Since track cars are almost constantly WOT or in heavy decel in High RPM. Both areas the EGR doesnt do anything correct...
Make sure the car is warmed up when they test it. You could also add a little octane booster to help combustion.

You dont have to remove the Y pipe, Just remove the thottle body and youll have plenty of space. You wont need a gasket either since the throttle body to Y pipe has a reusable gasket. I included a pic so you could see where the Y pipe ends.
