I have read here in various posts that Toyota factory red is required for MK3s to keep the water pump happy. Is that not true? Is there a better option?

This is a pretty old thread, but I had my LET-T16 ceramic coated and it has held up well in the winters now that I am back in Ohio where it gets cold. I don't drive in the snow that much though.
