The stock one is 2 pieces an inner and an outer with vulcanised rubber between, due to the length of our cranks you get a bit of a whip and the balancer/damper acts as a shock absorber.

I was a bit freaked at the idea of spinning an 18 year old balancer to 8000+ so bought a new one an alternative might be the ATI one Figgie had them make!
I'm older and crankier ;)
I have SF as "read only" and if SM ever went the same way I wouldn't hesitate to back away but our Mods seem much more able to keep the trolls in line here!
