    My new 7M buildup...long road.

The latest- The wiring harness is installed, the cps, Tstat housing and coil pack/ plug wires are installed, as well as all the under-intake vacuum junk. The only thing I have left to install(besides the tranny) is the PS resevoir, so I'm pretty happy.

    My new 7M buildup...long road.

Man, this is taking alot longer than I anticipated. I was hoping to be able to just pull the old engine out, swap over the accessories, etc. and slide the new one back in...HA! was I dreaming or what? Aside from the fact that I've been out of town 10 of the last 15 days, I have been busy...

Water leak, trying to get the parts.

Have you tried Champion Toyota? They usually beat all dealer prices, especially on the more expensive items.

    Driveshafts

Yeah, You HAVE to put in a driveshaft loop if you go one piece. It's just too dangerous without one.

    Don't grind the valve stem

What are the clearances supposed to be on the exhaust side? Are yours in English or metric? I thought it was supposed to be around .2-.3mm? I can't remember. Anyway, I bought them from www.Goodson.com Much cheaper than factory.

    Driveshafts

Hmm. I seem to be the only one on here that's bought from the Driveshaft Shop. I got a 1 piece aluminum unit. Looks great, but I'm in the middle of my engine swap, and so it's about to go in. Hopefully, I can give a review of it within the week.

    My new 7M buildup...long road.

Small update, I received the new ARP's today. I used my new bottoming tap to clean all the crud out of the bottom threads of the bolt holes, then I lubed up the Arp's and mounted them. I also dremeled off the dubious rivet on the Cometic HG, just as a precaution. Once I had lowered the head...

    Look At This!!!!!!

Yeah, I saw that. Would be nice if it bolts in like stock, and accepts the side seals/ inner liner like stock.

    PS steering rack boot replacement

I did it on mine(88). Doesn't take an SST to do it, but you need to take the shimmy damper mount off. As I recall, it's a pain in the arse, but then all you do is inscrew the tie rod(s).

    My new 7M buildup...long road.

Thanks. Well, I'm getting them from HPF, so I'm sure it'll be fine. I tapped the head bolt holes in the block to day, but I need a bottom tap, because the test stud binds before I can get it seated all the way down. Anyone know who sells bottom taps?

That evil rivet in the Cometic/ TMS MHG...

Well, it seems like some of the rivets are right near the edge, but aren't going to be sandwiched between the head and block. Did they later revise the HG to correct this? I'm going to look at that front rivet,

That evil rivet in the Cometic/ TMS MHG...

I searched the threads on the Cometic HG, but couldn't find this info; Which one of the rivet was causing people problems? I test fitted the HG and the head, and I didn't think that any of them were interfering, but I want to be sure. Which one should I be specifically inspecting? Thanks.

    My new 7M buildup...long road.

Here are the pics of what I've been doing... The engine, looking tired. About ready to pull. Oops. Nuff said. The engine/tranny pulled. First time I've done it together. I like. Location of my remote oil filter. The Long oil cooler, behind the IC. The pushloc...

    HT5sSilverSupraT's Build Thread

Looks nice! How did you fill in the mouldings, did you say you used fiberglass? Looks great that way.

    My new 7M buildup...long road.

It's FINALLY happening! On Wednesday, I began to disconnect the engine. Got all upper connections removed(intake, battery, ecu and wire harness, fuel lines, ac lines, etc.), and all fluids drained, before I lost daylight. Thursday, I removed the lower connections(driveshaft, exhaust...

Almost burned my car to the ground

Good point- I will be grabbing me a fire extinguisher. Even if you're not worried about your wiring, it's still a great bit of insurance.

Almost burned my car to the ground

Yeah, I learned my lesson about being nonchalant with wiring considerations. I had all my connections secure using correct connectors and good routing, but I didn't consider running the fuse with regards to a short circuit, only to protect the electronics. That's why a second fuse is going in now.

Almost burned my car to the ground

Oh it's not that bad to look at, just worried about the harness' status. On a bright note, the car runs fine, and there's no apparent side effects whatsoever, aside from the fact that I have no radio now... Yes, I did fuse the wire, but back at the amps. The 8 gauge went into a fuse...

Almost burned my car to the ground

I was driving to work and had just gotten off the highway, and my radio starts turning off and on. I think- hmm must be a loose wire. Just then, I see thick white smoke come out from under the hood. My first reaction, naturally, was to look at the temp gauge, but it was happy as can be. Then I...
