i got owned on ebay :(

"Fast Volkswagon" ;) Suze: I can see his point about not sending a refund till he has the goods back, he'll probably refund just so he doesn't get a bad feedback as word of mouth online is a powerful deterrent.

    Bearing clearance and condition

Joe: LOL damn I almost got away with it ;) My guess is it's been run low on oil at sometime in it's life and scuffed up the bearings, maybe 1 and 6 are the last to see a pressure drop (not sure never studied the oil gallery layout in detail). "Detonation" was just chucked in as a possible...

    Coolant Question

Justin: Water pumps aren't very expensive it might be an idea to have one on hand with a gasket and change it out anyway if you're not sure on it's history.

    Bearing clearance and condition

Joe: Classic hammered bearings, they lose their crush if detonated or ran low on oil. 2 thou on the good ones is way too much clearance for a 7M, our motors are happiest built tight.... hmmmm "Happiness is a tight 7M" ;)

Results of the Ebay Special T70 test on my car

BZ: It's very rare to break a turbo because of too much oil. They're really simple devices and don't have any "seal" that can blow out like a rubber lip seal it's just a simple labyrinth and a piston ring seal. In some cases if it's been cooked you can get a carbon buildup on the...

BZ: Now the drains clear just run it awhile it's going to take ages to stop smoking as EVERYTHING is coated in oil! The smoke you're seeing is "normal" step back take a deep breath relax and all will be well! :) You might want to pull the IC and it's pipes and give em a flush with some...

SG: Swap the shafts back into their correct spots then with a Lobe pinting up use a set of feeler gauges between the Shim and the back of each Lobe to check for clearence. intake should be between 0.006 > 0.010 exhaust is 0.008 > 0.012

BZ: If it's just been flooded there won't be any damage...... Back in the day the old T04's were really bad for this (ask how I know) Once the drain was corrected the smoke went away and as far as I know the turbo is still going strong many years later! Another thing that can cause...

Results of the Ebay Special T70 test on my car

I do the prime thing by pulling the plugs and cranking it in 15 second bursts until the gauge reads pressure. This way it's primed fully (pouring oil in doesn't get into all of the internal passages) By the time you get the plugs back in and ready for "Main Engine Start" You could pop the EFI...

BZ: It's really important that the Turbo drain is large and unobstructed as an example if you have too much oil in the motor with a low drain it will block it flood the turbo and it'll smoke like a bitch!
