After verifying that the cam timing is correct you can retension the belt easily.
It's spring loaded there's a plug in the front cover you can pull, turn the motor a few degrees clockwise loosen the 14mm bolt in there the spring will take up and slack then tighten the bolt replace the plug...

While I've been tuning/developing my car I haven't done a single hard launch, along the way it had many rolling full throttle pulls and I suspect the combination of soft rear springs and lower power around the 300+ mark has totalled...

Well done on having a go at it and a tip I'd share here for everyone is to tack weld your job together and test fit it before any finish welding!
It's easy to break a few tacks to reposition parts and checking a few times will save many hours...
