Hope it goes well I've never smoked so have NFI first hand how hard it will be but have seen plenty of people struggle through it!
Using a Dremel is going to be tough long hard slow going.....
Buy a Die Grinder and some Carbide Burrs 1x Tulip and 1x Rounded end cylinder and you'll whip through it fairly quickly.
A couple of flapper wheels and some cartridge rolls to clean up and you're set.

7 thou you could probably "Draw File" it Mark.
Nice sharp file used across the surface so you would hold each end either side of the cover some WD40 or CRC then pull the file along the Cover.
Done right it gives a nice flat smooth finish.

If I have to pull the motor I'll digitise the Adaptors and make some CNC files so I can copy them as there seems to be some interest (When I first made it no one was at all interested after I decided to cancel...

You need to strip ALL of the steel parts out guides and all then press em all back in afterwards! :(
I guess most shops don't specialise in Aluminium High performance heads so why would they know?

It was probably the Detonation that did the damage.
May have lifted the head a touch then let it move around enough to make the rings.
Check the dowel pins and their holes in the head and deck.
The machine shop will clean the valves.
Sounds like you've been lifting the head at some time and it's moving around a bit!
The Head shop will have the bore gauges to measure the guides.
As long as the valve stems don't have a wear ridge they should be fine but it's worth getting them measured to be sure.
