    Jaguar_5's 87 Turbo Build

I'm a little confused here Jag! Without me going back through the thread tell me what you have? ie: Std crank? You say it had ACL's in it what size? Which Toyota bearings do you have now? To me the logical thing would have been to get the same ACL's as they're a honed bearing so don't...

    Using Plastiguage?

If the motor is a virgin there will be sizes stamped on the pan rail of the block for the bearing bores.

    Using Plastiguage?

Diameter And yes a micrometer is the best. But using Toyota bearings they have many sizes based on the Bearing bore size as well so an inside snap gauge is needed.

    Using Plastiguage?

LOL you need to measure the crank first! Check the bearing old shells they should be marked.

    Using Plastiguage?

Ummm that's a bit backwards 13! Plastigauge is used as a final check after the bearings have been sized to the crank.

    Oil Cooler Question

Rick: The stock bypass cooler has a few small orifices so total flow isn't that much. (Or everytime you hit 40 psi the pressure would drop to 0 ;) )

    Using Plastiguage?

Ummm lay the lowers in the block Put the uppers in the Caps ;) Only have to gauge at the top of the journal. You may need to move the crank so the Oil holes aren't in the way after you've done a few journals so be careful turning it while it's dry.

OK now that i'm putting it back together FINALLY...

Well the Green says safe for aluminium heads on the container but when you search the web it says that the Red is for Bimetal...... Just going on personal experience here and I'm sure there are millions of Bi motors with Green in em.

    Using Plastiguage?

Install the bearing lowers in the block lay a clean crank in nip off a pice of the Plastigauge with your fingernails lay this across the Crank journal then bolt the Cap down to it's torque setting. Do NOT move the crank at all remove the cap then using the scale on the package compare it to...
