New 5th gear for the R154 - how about a taller overdrive?

What would be the top speed with the stock rev limter using the .66 gear with the 3.73lsd (I'm assuming the 3.73 is the standard on the turbo models, correct?)

Psi before my bottem end blows? And JDM motors?

Everything depends on the condition of the motor. If the motor is in perfect running condition. The bottom end should be able to hold up to 16-18 psi on 93octane with a good tune. I run 16 psi on my stock bottom end and have seen it spike to 18 psi at times. And my cars run perfectly fine...

    New dyno numbers!

I was just curious what that monster turbo he has is putting down. It's been two years and no dyno numbers.

what was the point of this thread? Where are the new dyno numbers?

when are we going to see a pic of this piece installed?

    rough cost estimate for machining

4U2QUIK what would you reccomend to be a good interference tolerance between the housing and the bearings and the shafts and the bearings? I want the bearings to be press fitted onto the housing and the shafts press fitted on the bearings. Thanks, Marc

    rough cost estimate for machining

thanks for the information. everything seemed fine when i ran the analysis except for the input shaft. the input shaft was failing, but i thought i was just constraining it wrong. How much more expense would the material be for etd150? is Etd150 an alloy or is it a process used to stressprof a...

    rough cost estimate for machining

slack on what? What would pop off? There are magnets at the ends of the socket drives. support where? you hold the housing with your hand, the impact gun with your other hand. and the opposite side goes on the lug nuts to stay in place. no we weren't required to build it. but i wanted a cost...

    rough cost estimate for machining

well the input gear had 20 teeth and the output gears have 25 teeth. this gives a gear ratio of 1.25. honda, acura's, toyota lug nuts are SUPPOSE to be torqued down to 80 foots lbs. for the sake of arguement, i chosen a value of 100 ft pounds for each lug nut. (100)(4)= 400 ft lbs. i took the...

    rough cost estimate for machining

Yes. i did run an analysis on all the part. I ran all the part on ANSYS workbench. total deformation was all less then .001 in. i chose very conservative constraints. and the factor of safety for each part was all well above 1. The center shaft is made of 1045 steel. which has pretty high...

    rough cost estimate for machining

can anyone give me a rough estimate of what a few hundred dollars would be?

    rough cost estimate for machining

well assuming the lug nuts are torqued to 100 ft lbs each, then a minimum of 320 ft lbs applied to the input shaft is required to loosen the lug nuts.

    rough cost estimate for machining

yes. exactly what was stated above. i wanted to make it for a 5 lug but it would cost a lot more to make. it was also harder to get a good gear ratio to overcome the power loss to distribute torque to 5 other gears. i am using premade gears from mcmaster.com to reduce cost. so i could only work...

    rough cost estimate for machining

I am working on my senior design project, which is a simultaneous lug nut remover. I need a rough estimate of how much the parts would cost to make (labor, and material). The housing and cover could be aluminum. I would like the other 3 parts to be made of 1045 steel. :1zhelp:

prove to me a divorced downpipe is better then a regular 3"

does any have a pro/E or a solidworks model of both the regular 3" downpipe and the recirculated divorced ("separate") downpipe. I dont have the time right now to make it myself. If somone can give that to me then i'll run the analysis on ANSYSworkbench CFD myself and post the result here.

prove to me a divorced downpipe is better then a regular 3"

where in "Divorced" down pipe does it say open to atmosphere? "Divorced" means two different pipes. http://www.bicperformance.com/products.htm "Options for Downpipes - Re-routed wastegate pipe. Routes the wastgate dump back into the main exhaust for all the benefits of the DDP, but...
