Arz: I think Porsche 928 blocks were nikasil'd stock but for the big bore kits I'm pretty sure they coat the pistons.
Waaaayyyyy back I remember a Nika BBC block I think it was made by Maclaren or one of the other big teams back then.
Dirgle: I'd guess a register in the head surface...
Never heard of crank walk with an auto before!
(not saying it can't happen just never heard of it)
Might want to check it hasn't broken the driveplate as that's sort of common.
