I'm building an FFIM. What would be the ultimate design?

Ok this is just what I've found in testing parts with no real hard science ;) Long runners = cutting a stock plenum off the upper runners and welding the new one on. Short runners = 40mm long from the head to the Plenum mounting flange (any shorter and it makes it really hard to get to...

    Compression Numbers...

No probs :) I posted up pics of the 2 different castings outlining the differences to look for.

Blocks are much heaver castings and the cranks have full counterweights like a JZ crank.

I'm building an FFIM. What would be the ultimate design?

RPM range? Which Turbo? Auto/Manual? How do you want the power to hit? These are some of the variables that you can tailor to make your FFIM right for YOU ;) Short runners kill off low end long runners improve it Small plenum volume makes the boost hit harder Large is softer

Good way of doing it but I'd shoot for an 89+ motor to get the better block and crank ;)

    turbo header question

Big I: Doesn't really make sense the stock manifold flows more than enough for the CT26 (The CT is THE restriction)

Drive it gently keep it out of boost and keep a close eye on the Oil level and it'll probably run forever.

Sounds like the damage is already done then :( Get it scoped drive it gently to minimise any further damage.

    Center Bearing Drive Shaft Problems

Well you replaced a worn bearing with a worn bearing from a more powerful car....... It's worth checking that the 3 Universals are all still in line with each other.

Drop the attitude.... People here are trying to help you. YOU posted the vid with your caption that leads people to believe that it's you. As for the Vid I'd punch that little smartarse senseless for his smart mouth. Before you start to think I'm on the parents side in all of this I...

Aaron: Depends on what the damage is and this is why I suggested scoping it. If it's mechanical ie: Broken ring or ringland yes driving it IS going to damage the block, if it's just a fried/worn ring then no it'll just cause some blowby and as long as you don't hammer it you won't hurt...

    Compression Numbers...

Worst case scenario is it's broken a ringland. Best case is a set of rings and a hone. Do a leakdown before you pull it down this will help you understand what's happened. If you know anyone with a bore scope borrow it and scope the cylinder if it's mechanical damage you'll see signs on...

Your bud was correct! It's a bit odd that it's only low in one cylinder though. (ever detonated?)

    Fair or No?

Tell them the current arangement is causing unneeded friction and you think it's the best option to sell it and put the $$$ back in the bank. If you want to be treated like an adult act like one.

    Slow's build: Wheelie Bar Equipped

Either you're a tiny tiny munchkin or that's one BIG ARSE Turbo :) (I now understand the chassis brace would be nice if it were trinagulated though)
