Finn: A piece of rag to wipe the grease off is cheaper than a replacement arm if it's not really needed ;)

Jack the car up under the lower arm so the weight is off the wheel and see if there's any play in the joint. "Failure point"??

Upper balljoints are very lightly loaded comepared to lowers and last a long time in our cars. If there's no play I wouldn't replace the arms.

Matt: "Stupid" knows no age boundaries ;) I try to help everyone equally right up until they prove to me they're a waste of time and effort (usually happens sooner rather than later) If I know the answer to a question I'll jump in and provide it and most times I'm correct, if someone knows...

    7mgte reman'd crank kits

Sorry missed this yesterday! As SS5 said above ^, I'm NOT trying to be a smartarse or a prick but the fact you had to ask about plastigauge would indicate this sort of precision work is a little beyond your skill level. Take the cleaned Short Block parts to a reputable machine shop and...

broken timing belt pulley, and oil pump pulley

I think you're over thinking it ;) New pully correctly installed is pretty bulletproof. Can't weld aluminium to steel/iron You DON'T touch the tensioner that what the Spring does..... Follow these instructions to the letter.

broken timing belt pulley, and oil pump pulley

Spool: Yep that's the failure I'm talking about..... If you buy a 2nd hand one spend some time deburring and smoothing the arms as even a small nick will cause it to fail. Also DON'T go nuts and overtighten the Cam belt ;) (buy a new tensioner spring and let it do it's job and only...

broken timing belt pulley, and oil pump pulley

Centre ripped out of the Oil pump pully? Most times I've seen this it's been either or both a) Over tensioned belt b)damaged pully from using something to wedge it while doing up it's bolt. Unless you have HUGE cams the motor "should" be fine, as long as you weren't trying to roll start it...
