Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

Three days ago, I discovered that one of my low beams was burned out. Seeing as I had a set of H4 conversion housings from my other car just sitting on a shelf, I decided to swap over for a little bit more light output. They're called Neolite, and are glass housings, somewhat similar to Hella's...

Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

Update: Well, not too much to post. Just chasing down the last few gremlins. Gotta figure out why my driver's side door ajar light doesn't work; it was before. Still have to swap out the dome light; one side has a bad switch. Waiting on my 'Automotive Touchup' paint kit to arrive, so that I can...

Yeah, I looked through my parts boxes, and it looks like I gave away those bushings. But if you want new oem type bushings, might as well get new upper A-arms. That way, you have new upper ball joints/ boots as well. Dorman, Part numbers 520-487, 520-488 - roughly $57 each, shipped. Can't beat...

New Spark Plugs and Wires now super rich....

So, are you saying that this was happening with an alternator that only put out 11 volts? If so, I'd wonder if the coils were getting full power. Also, I stay away from Champion spark plugs(and Bosch). I've had best luck with NGK, Denso and Autolite's.

    Wrong engine and Keep right

Is it a new belt? Be sure that you have the right part number- maybe the new belt has one too many or too few teeth?

Swapping oem radio for another oem...what are the possibilities?

What's the 3rd plug for on the back of this radio? Are they line out signals that could be used for external amplification, or inputs from a cd changer or something?

Swapping oem radio for another oem...what are the possibilities?

So, I fixed the erratic on/off issue... Let's just say that it'll never accidentally be turned off again...like...Ever. In fact, I can't turn it off at all, lol. Guess I might go find another at the junk yard.

Swapping oem radio for another oem...what are the possibilities?

So, when I got this deck, I didn't realize that there was an issue with the power/ volume knob till I installed it. It was collapsed, and wouldn't spring out, so it would constantly power on/ power off. I bought a replacement knob, thinking that the issue was with the knob itself, and tore into...

Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

ST swaybar, and new oil cooler lines. Then, I started playing with my stereo unit, in order to fix the bad power knob. It was collapsed, and wouldn't spring out, so it would constantly power on/ power off. So, I opened it up. Surprisingly, the front faceplate just pops off, almost like a...

Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

Depends on what you're trying to accomplish. For example, this build was just to reassemble the motor, and cobble together just a few items to get everything working. My other build, is a 4+ year project, to rebuild and improve every aspect of the car. If you have an hour, I invite you to read...

Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

Very true! So far today, I've shimmed the cooler bypass, shimmed(2 washers) the wastegate, Replaced the front swaybar with ST, Replaced the oil cooler lines and oil filter, and adjusted the dashpot. Not much more to do. If I get the rear swaybar done, I'll call it a good day.

Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

LOL. Aint done yet, but I'm working on it today. One additional task: Install 3" catalytic converter. My girlfriend was giving me all kinds of hell for my '88 long term project, because it takes up the garage. Then I buy a 2nd 'project', and she's like WTH?- Finish your other car first...

Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

Pretty much. Still have to shim the bypass spring and replace the cooler hoses, as well as get the bumpers painted, but at that point, i'll call it as done as it will ever get. There will always be repairs and refresh tasks on a car this old, but you have to write an ending to the story at some...

Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

Today I was able to do a quick couple of jobs, before it got too hot outside. Pulled the tail lights, and replaced the seals. I was getting a lot of water inside the hatch area, but I'm not sure if its coming from the lights, the lower hatch glass trim, or what. But I do know that water in the...

Next question- What replacement antenna for the 89+ wing?

Done. The only real problem I had, was that the supplied base retainer(against the inside of the quarter panel) was too large to use in the stock hole. So I cut up the oem unit to use on the inside. I also reused the lower bracket, after welding in 90 degree tabs to fit the new antenna's...

Project: Git'R driving...a VERY short build

Swapped out the power antenna today. Took a little bit of fiddling with the upper spacer, and modifying the lower bracket, but it's all solid now. Old vs. new: Bracket welded to work: Harness cut from the old antenna, and depinned/ rewired: Done. And with a black mast, too.
