    #6 bearing (connecting rod)

I'd seriously suggest pulling the plugs on the crank so that you can clean out the galleys in there. Otherwise, your problem might have been caused by a plugged galley and the new bearings will only last minutes at most.

    Mensa test

Grrr... stuck at 20/33. Haven't found any sports ones, not my field so I'll likely miss those ones entirely.

    Snow

I recall Bishop talking about Racing Season - he's in Lousiana, IIRC, and he doesn't bother racing in summer because it's too damn hot and you can't get any real power out of an intercooled turbo engine when it's that hot. :) Completely the opposite of here!

Glad to hear that you are running again. :) Congrats!

    #6 bearing (connecting rod)

Both my cases of rod knock have been other bearings... #3 on one engine, #4 on another.

    1990 NA/Turbo O2 sensor

No. The turbo has a three wire sensor, the NA has a single wire sensor.

How to replace water bypass hose #5

I have a different method. I pull the hose from the top - the one that goes to the firewall for the heater. Then put a BIG socket on the fitting that hose runs too and pull the whole fitting off. It's easy to get the hose off when you have the hose & fitting on your bench instead of on the...

    Snow

Tires are absolutely the key. It's been a while since I posted this pic, so I'll throw it up again - my car in the winter here, stock rims and snow tires. I get better traction than SUVs with all seasons. This is also halfway up a mountain, so all the roads are either UP or DOWN.

Post a pic of yourself - in light of IJ's Community thread.

Sure, why not? :) I'm 37, live in Richmond, BC, and drive an '89 hardtop, blue, that is in the galleries here: http://www.supramania.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=1 And here's my ugly mug:

shifter bushing and green gasket part number

Not quite - the green gasket is the thicker piece, the bushing is stock size. But yes, these are the parts that you put in for a better shift.

    Engine Mounting Absorber? (Motor shock)

I still want to know what "Chunder" is.

    oil leaking from mhg

I know that the rivet problem affects at least Cometic and HKS gaskets. I test fitted my HKS gasket, and it's a good thing I did, because one of the rivets was causing problems. I drilled that rivet out and haven't had a problem.

    *Sense of Community*

I've said this before... I don't think MkIV owners are asshats. Every one I have met personally has been a very nice person. I think the asshats in question - especially on SF - are people who like to pretend that they own a MkIV. My opinion of these people is exceptionally low, they are of...

    Paint color change...your thoughts?

Either black is awesome... as long as you keep it black. The color heathens shall pay the penalty eventually, have no fear... :)

    Engine Mounting Absorber? (Motor shock)

IMO, not required. Toyota removed this part from the 89+ vehicles, and virtually everyone local pulled it from their earlier cars as well. We had to seach for almost a year to find one still mounted on a car here, just to prove that they really existed.

Yes, any Toyota dealer will be able to get this for you.

    My poor baby needs work...

These are the prices from Champion Toyota, who happens to post their prices on the 'net, and gives everyone the discount that you can only get at your local Toyota dealership is you spend thousands there. This is their toll free number: 800-327-2087. They are very used to people like us...

    No more for me...

Leakdown tester is a little fitting that screws into your spark plug hole, that allows you to pressurize the cylinder. If the cylinder doesn't hold pressure, you can check the rad for bubbles, the head / oil dipstick tube for hissing... lets you know whether you have a problem with your head...
