It's not that hard as he has all the parts sitting there to do the swap...
It IS easier to go from auto to manual though.
ECU, Tranny controller, pedals, shifter, gauges all have to be swapped...
It's the opposite of that, throwout bearing is under stress when the pedal is depressed, but when the pedal is depressed the gearpacks in the tranny stop spinning.

IF and ONLY IF the headgasket is not currently leaking will a retorque on the factory headgasket seal.

After pulling JUST my tranny to do my clutch, I'm gonna disagree with those saying to pull the engine and tranny.
Tranny jack (cheap as hell at harbor freight), 3' of extensions, an old yoke (put it in in place of the tool used in the TSRM, means you won't loose your gear lube in the tranny)...

Don't get me wrong, I love the WRX/STi (except the absolutely fugly newest one) and tried to find one cheap enough to get as a DD.

The new F1 cars use carbon fiber in their safety box for the driver, it's FAR stronger than steel.
I think you guys seem to think of sheets instead of a formed piece. Take a flat sheet of steel for a body panel and it will bend all over the place, but once it's formed it won't.
4th gear is locking the input and output shaft together, that's why it won't whine.
Marlin Crawler is more expensive than that (depends on how bad the tranny is as well), but well worth it...
