Hi,
As some of you know, I totalled my 87 last week.
I am now looking for a shell or badly running car to put my drivetrain and interior into. I'm finding some good candidates; but, some don't have TEMS. I want to keep the TEMS and was wondering if anyone has ever put TEMS in a...
I'll post some pics in the next day or so. I'm still sorting out all of the details and letting this all settle in. My stomach is still in knots thinking about my car. I'm sure like all other supra owners, mine was considered one of my children!
It was like I was on ice. There was no skidding type noise or skid marks (except in my drawers :) ) and the car just kept going and going. I'd never had it happen before and don't want it to happen again!
Hey everyone! Well, we had an abnormal amount of rainfall here in Tri-Cities yesterday. My car hydroplaned at 35mph after coming out of a 25mph 90 degree turn. I did a 180, jumped a curb, hit a tree, slid across some grass and hit a parked cargo type truck. Needless to say...my near perfect...
For what it's worth, my wastegate is shimmed with three washers (I forget the thickness) and mine boosts to 11 on 70 degree+ plus days without fuel cut. On colder days, she starts creeping up to 12-12.5 and fuel cut shows her ugly head! :)
I have an electronics degree and have been working in the field since I graduated. That being said, there is a chemical you can use. I use it everyday and it is pretty easy to find! Here's the manufacturer and part number. It is safe on all electronic components and MOST plastics. Google it...
Don't forget to check for boost leaks! A boost leak could keep you from being able to build boost.
BTY: What were your compression numbers...can you post them?
^ Ditto! I just did that myself. I went down to Home Depot and bought Allen Head Screws, washers, and lock-washers. Cost me around $6. Probably overkill on the lock washers; but, that's how I do things! :)
Welcome aboard and be prepared to do a lot of wrenching! If not from maintenance, from upgrading. :)
Well, I would do a compression check and leak down test. With a little searching you can find the tolerable variances in compression.
Secondly, I would check for boost leaks.
Good...
I haven't had any of that trouble yet. Mine seems to work fine. All the sensors trip when they're supposed to AND don't when they're not supposed to. :)
Hey Grim! How ya been...get your driver's seat done yet? I'm still considering doing the same thing. If my interior wasn't near flawless, I'd be doing that too. Man I like what you've done!
Yeah, I think I'll do the fuel pump switch thing. That sounds best!
Thanks guys...
Has anyone had an MK3 stolen?
My buddy's 300ZX Twin Turbo just got stolen last night and that got me thinking. Is our MK3 stock anti theft adequate? What have y'all done in addition to the factory system? I was thinking about a removable steering wheel, or 'The Club' (which is iffy), pedal...
A 57 trim is the way to go for dependablility and fun. It spools quick and hard. I just got mine about 3 weeks ago.
Is that picture you posted the turbo that's on your car now? It looks like a 57 trim to me. You wouldn't see a bore line in a 60 trim.
Can anyone confirm this for him?
I purchased the ST's and they are in transit. I don't weld and don't have access to anyone who does. I suppose I could find a shop to do it; but, is this absolutely something I should do prior to installing the sway bars? I guess I'm asking what are my chances of breaking something without...
I'm getting conflicting information on this; but, what I want to know is when you upgrade the sway bars, do you HAVE to upgrade the endlinks?
I have been told that if you DON'T upgrade the endlinks, that the rear pot metal/plastic OEM ones will break and that if you DO upgrade the endlinks...
Not sure if this should be in this section; but, I made it to the meet this past weekend and saw a couple Mk3's with a moon/sun roof.
Was this a rare option?
Will Toyota install one in my hard top now and any idea of the cost?
I want one!!! :naughty:
