Heh two reasons: 1) Didn't know anyone other that "jdm king" was interested in drifting in norcal 2) It was a private, invite-only test event with no spectators allowed. The point was to get a feel for putting on a parkinglot course (private-events.net had only done track events like...

How many people fuel up while leaving the Supra running?

I have on a number of vehicles with bad starters (worked for a delivery co with cheap vehicles). Sure a running car increases the chance of a spark by 0.0001%, who cares? The real danger is when, in the event of a rare fire, some dipshit pulls the nozzle out of the car without first turning it...

Sure does, aside from the practical standpoint of being slightly more costly to own/maintain. He had some power, good balance, rwd, and a lsd -- pretty much all you need.

The 944 did pretty fair. Looked to me like he was a road racing/autocross convert with good car handling skills. I've currently got a 60-1 ct26, but it only lasted ~20,000 miles. I'm happy with the car's power (well until I go to the drag races ;) ) so I don't see the need for a bigger...

    cars value

Put the seats back in it, loose the tach. Whether cared for or not, the sight of a car prepped for (street) racing often conjures up images of abuse -- lowering its value.

    Gas Prices

Get used to it, some forecasters are predicting $100/barrel oil soon. It's ~ $50/barrel now, and I believe it was < $30 a few years ago when we saw $0.99/gal for regular in Cali. Anyway, the reasons why we're seeing a sharp spike now: *India and China are beginning to use much more oil...

Unfortunately not. I just got a job with Horsepowerfreaks in Portland, so I'll be heading up there this weekend. Norcal is starting to get a ton of events now though -- at least 2 a month during the summer/fall. Luckily, the drift scene seems to be blossoming up there as well.

Other pics: Stockton's Finest making sure this wasn't a "sideshow:" One of 3 other non cookie-cutter drift cars (240/AE86): One other: The other: ^that guy was extremely talented. It's a very hard car to drift (I've got a 91NA) and he made it look so easy. One of the...

The rest of the supra's pictures: ok yes, this was just after I had spun out. Bad tires, bad! (the spin was their fault you see, I was just punishing them)

This was a long straight (for a parking lot event) before a fast sweeper. MK3's don't need as much room as AE86's to get up to speed, so I found myself sliding into the corner farther and farther from the grip entry point: This is the same corner, just a little later in the slide. It...

Photos from stockton drift event (56K no way)

I had two of the stock near-full size temporary spares lying around (one from my car, one from my old parts car) and I really wanted to use the wheels for other tires. But it would have been a shame to let two full-tread tires go to waste. Plus they were like 18 years old -- they were so hard...

    6M Crank

Other problems include getting custom rods and pistons to maintain the desired compression ratio (you could use 5m rods, but would you trust them to high rpm duty?). I've looked into it, and its by no means impossible -- just an expensive way to loose low-end power (while gaining the ability to...

    questions for full rebuild

    2) I would get all hoses and gaskets (except MHG) from Toyota, specifically Jeff Watson at www.toyotaworld.com 3) Waterpump, timing belt, and I would recomend a quality aluminum radiator like koyo, PWR, or Fluidyne. You can have your stock one serviced, but I've never had much luck with...

New forum layout, IMO better then the old!

I like the new format, but it seems like there are fewer threads per page than before. Any way to adjust this? edit: I've found how to adjust the posts per page in a thread, but not the threads per page in a section?

    Aurora Tires

While I agree with you that good tires can make a world of difference, I put little/no faith in the Uniform Tire Quality Grade Standards (UTQG). Contrary to popular belief, there is no standardized test to establish the numbers. Instead manufactures grade the tires relative to their own other...
