    best way to splice ECU

Oh I wasn't trying to debate with you, just was pointing out that it is a real pain in the arse keeping the flux clean can be. ;)

As far as your friend goes I would like to see this list of company's, because I can promise you it is short. Ok first I think I have made a pretty good go at my point. And some how my twisted definition is accepted by many people, including Merriam-Webster, Jeppesen, many computer science...

While were on it. This is my E6B flight computer. Ask any pilot and he will recognize it. It's not digital, if you shake it it will probably loose its place. But it is still considered a computer, and has been for longer than your AND and OR gates have been around.

    best way to splice ECU

Funny thing is when I when to solder school, all flux had to be removed, and wicking of the wire(where flux and solder was drawn up underneath the insulation) was a failure. It took a lot of time to get down how to not do that. And on aircraft equipment it is important to have the highest...

Well since we are back on this again. First unless I missed something we never said a piece of paper was a computer. Second AND and OR and NAND and NOR gates are components of solid state transistors. Solid state transistors are parts of the modern computer that allows it to preform it's task...

Yep, I saw this, and tried to figure a way around it but couldn't so I decided to just drop it. In terms of digital computers then yes you are correct. In terms of computers as a category, then we are right. we would have never been able to meet in the middle no matter how much we argued, at...

Umm, I guess you lost as to the point you were trying to make. If you just look at a computer and don't interact with it it will just sit there and look back at you, just like an abacus. You have to input data to get it to do anything. Most of the data is input into the computer before you even...

Actually, in the beginning of most computer degrees they do indeed teach us that the Abacus was the first instance of a computer. And wikipedia is not the be-all-end-all of accurate information. A device that can store, retrieve and process data. An abacus has these attributes, most modern...

Still a little high, it's more like 5 to 6GHZ. And as far as Super computing for your desktop, it's just around the corner. http://channel.tomshardware.com/2007/06/21/nvidia_tesla_personal_supercomputing/index.html http://www.nvidia.com/object/tesla_computing_solutions.html Intel also as...

    Holy mother of god diesel

I find it interesting to that you see things that way, as most Americans only know of the diesels that are in the big trucks(pickup as well as semi). So the general consensus is that diesels are nothing but loud, stinky, and polluting monsters. I really don't think you understand what a noisy...

    Holy mother of god diesel

Horsepower sells cars, Torque moves them. These are the principles that have driven the American car culture since it's infancy. This ideal is what bread the American big block V8's.

Also if you choose to go the solder route. Make sure you clean the connection with isopropyl alcohol or other flux removing agent. Many people forget that flux is a corrosive element so it needs to be removed to ensure a reliable connection.

random interest: what happened to mattjk?

Intentionally I'm sure. There's no reason to go digging into other peoples business when were not involved. Matt got caught in the middle of something made some poor choices and now is gone. Simple as that. There is enough scuttlebutt going around right now so there is no reason to add to it.

    weight reduction

Not directed at you tte, but at his thread in general. If you serious enough about weight reduction to attempt this, your also serious enought to put your time and efforts in to weight reduction on a car better suited to the task. The Supra is heavy because of what it is, a GT car. Start...

    Anyone seen this civic?

Looks like it made it on to the tomshardware website. Some of the comments people left are kind of funny and a little ignorant. www.tomshardware.com http://www.thetorquereport.com/2007/06/corvetteengined_honda_civic_ex.html

    Anyone seen this civic?

This has the potential to induce one of those moments of total confusion where you watch an impossible event from your worst nightmare. You're at a stop light lined up with this thing and and your proceed to watch it break the law of physics and pull it's front wheels off the ground. It is one...
