    Replacing the 3000pipe with 2.5IC

2.75" pipe isn't that hard to get... Still, I have the 2.5" pipe myself. I'll probably eventually run that straight to the TB, and adapt it to the larger OD of the TB input. It'll still get rid of the small inlet to the 3000 pipe, so I think it's all good. I'll be using the HKS SSQV...

    speedometer

Graphite lube works well for speedo cables as well. You can get this in bike shops, and it's SOMETIMES less expensive. This also does good things for your power antennas, and does not collect dust and dirt like greases do.

    RPS Clutch disk question

No sweat. I just don't want other people to repeat my mistake. A loose flywheel starts off not as obvious as you might think. My first indication was when I hit the clutch pedal and ... nothing. The master cylinder just pulled the flywheel away from the motor instead of releasing the...

    Confusion about a vacuum source

Having just swapped a 7M-GTE into my '89NA... 1. The CC system will work, as-is. This is what I'm currently doing. The engine has to remain under a bit of vacuum in the manifold, but not much. It loses a bit of speed on the uphills, but overall, it works pretty well. 2. The GTE system...

    RPS Clutch disk question

Speaking from sorry experience, here... Put the flat side towards the flywheel. This is how it's shown in the TSRM for the stock disk, the aftermarket should be the same. If you put the springs toward the flywheel, it'll fit, but there isn't much clearance between it and hte flywheel...

7M-GTE Engine removal in 49 easy steps - questions

A/C is a pain, I agree, but the PS system isn't that bad. The A/C system can't be recharged with R12 anymore, so if you've got it, you'll want to keep it. The PS system on the other hand can be bled by anyone. The simplicity of removing the one banjo bolt and one hose clamp from the PS...

    Replacing the 3000pipe with 2.5IC

With an aftermarket BOV, you don't need that port on the 3000 pipe. When I get around to eliminating my 3000 pipe, I'll have already gotten rid of the stock bypass valve in favor of an HKS SSQV, so I'm just going to get rid of it. I know that the TB intake is 2.75" OD, so that's the largest...

    Speaker Interference Paint Pic Included

First off, the size wire needed is relative to the amount of power required. Even 4AWG can be wat too small for a run the the hatch of a Supra for large loads. Assuming that you aren't drawing more than 100A, you SHOULD be able to get away with 4AWG, though I might recommend 2 AWG for that...

    speedometer

The two basic possibilities are the gauge itself and the cable. Usually the cable makes noise. Does the odometer still turn over? The odometer is directly mechanically driven by the cable, the gauge itself has a clutch which works against a spring. If the clutch lets go, then the gauge...

    SUPRA STOLEN!!!

My boss' wife's '89T was stolen on them. They did recover it... It had sand in the oil. They let the insurance write it off. I was sad. I managed to talk them out of letting me take the car cheap. It had an annoying problem that I showed them how to fix.... The next month, it had been...

100 Octane Fuel - Does it hurt anything

Octane ratings is basically a measure of when octane starts to detonate. The higher the number, the less prone it is to pre-ignition, ie knocking. Therefore the higher the number, the less likely the fuel is to detonate, and damage your motor. There are 2 different ratings that have to be...

Reasons for coolant in exhaust.. not bhg

The head should be checked with a dye penetrant to see if it's cracked. You can't always see cracks. Stuff can get into intake, oil in particular through the PCV system. This isn't ideal, however it's within the realm of normal. You can also get some condensation in the intake which makes...

Reasons for coolant in exhaust.. not bhg

I would say: Step 1. Verify that it is indeed coolant in the exhaust, and not just water. Water is a natural byproduct of hydrocarbon combustion, and therefore, we should not be surprised that there is some in the exhaust. If it is coolant, then there's a limited number of places that it...

    Insurance ??? ABS or No?

Funny, I remember that a lot of insurance companies were talking about not giving discounts for ABS anyway, seeing as how the statistics don't show that it helps with avoidance or overall costs of accident claims. Anyway, since your car definitely has ABS, and I'm sure you can find that 1 and...

    6.5" Speakers in your door...

Now, of course this brings up the next part of my planned build... What to do about the front stage. The SSMB6 speakers only play up to about 500Hz, nowhere near high enough to cross over to a tweter, so that means that I need to fit another midrange speaker up front, as well as a pair of...

    6.5" Speakers in your door...

Okay, I'm kind of curious to see if there's enough real interest here. Recently, I got a set of 6.5" speaker panels out of a JZA70. Those who've seen them will know that they're not exactly the most thrilling things, being basically just an open baffle for the speaker. No enclosure, no...

    Factory Supra Speaker sizes.

An aftermarket head unit will at least put out more than the stock head unit. (I believe I measured mine at a whopping 4.5W/channel RMS at 0.04% THD when I put it on the scope.) Even so, most aftermarket head units don't go that far into the double digits if you insist on having clean sound...

    Yeah, it's 4 wheel, even if it's 3 channel.

    Factory Supra Speaker sizes.

Well, those should fit in the doors of any '86.5 - '90 Supra. Whether they actually sound good... Well, that's debatable. I imagine that they'll sound better than ~20 year old factory speakers, but I'd also imagine that there are much better out there. After all, Wal-mart isn't known for...
