    New Turbo, supporting mods?

Gee, that setup looks AWFULLY familiar. Except I'm running the BIC DDP. Same turbo, same IC pipe size, same BOV, same IC (well, close enough, I have the original Spearco)... I run the RC 550cc injectors instead of PTE. I'm running a wideband and the MAFT Pro. I have the Walbro pump, but I...

The $2008 Grassroots challenge build-up thread

Cars are like women. They suffer from jealous rages. Unfortunately, flowers have no effect, and synthetic oil is expensive.

    What could this be?

Ya, the CPS would affect starting hot or cold, and can randomly kill the engine while driving. No boost is a really common problem, and the usual cause for it is massive leaks due to big cracks in the IC piping. This is usually a very trivial fix. If this car were here, and I was in the...

Vegas!!!! MK3's smack Talk/update on travellers heading to Vegas

This is old, but still true. What's the difference between a 400hp Supra and an 800hp Supra at the track? Nothing.

Well, I can tell you that the LHD digital units are not plug and play.

    Stop Uwe Boll!!!!

The problem with this is who will they replace him with? I'd rather the devil I know. It's easy to avoid his movies. It won't be as easy if they replace him with some other goon with a normal name.

    What could this be?

Off the top of my head, cars that won't boost properly usually suffer from one of two things... boost gauge disconnected or boost leaks from big cracks in the old, hard, brittle intercooler pipe couplers. Cars that don't want to start when hot... hmmm... might have the fuel pressure regulator...

    BOV Control Line?

Ya, that's pretty typical. PCV gunk gets in there over the years and plugs it up. Often it will get hard, like grease, when cold, and the BOV never works when the engine is cold, however, it will turn liquid and allow enough vacuum through when it gets hot, so the BOV still works when the...

RHD vehicles have a temp slider - the climate control unit is not the same as the LHD units that we got in North America. Try playing with the buttons, looking for one that's stuck halfway. I've seen quite a few that wear out to the point that you can't get some of the buttons to work.

    What could this be?

Oh, I think cars are DEFINITELY female. Seriously, my car is super jealous - if I spend some money on something else, my car breaks something in a fit of rage that requires me to spend an equal or greater amount of money on the car. If that's not female, I dunno what is! ;)

88 Turbo Old Man Project Car

Old man my ass! There are more than a few elders in here. I'm 40, and so is Supracentral... Looks like a nice starting point, and you've come to the right place for advice.

    What could this be?

There's no reason to assume that both problems are connected. LOTS of people rewire the fogs, and a significant number of those screw it up. I'd check the wiring on the foglights yourself.

    Skeptical Supra guy

The guy is full of shit. No oil = rodknock, and maybe a thrown rod. This should have zero effect on EGTs. 100km on no oil? Considering that many members have spun a rod from a momentary loss of oil pressure, I'd say unlikely. So, if we know the guy is full of shit and has no problem spewing...

    modded or bored stock injectors

You can, but it's pointless. The cost to have them cleaned, machined, and flow tested is 90% of the cost of new ones.

    What could this be?

It would be awfully funny if the wiring to his CPS was shot. That's a 20 minute fix by anyone who can solder... And it's a pretty common problem.

Anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for hi/lo HIDs?

There really isn't much to it. The diagram that comes with it is useless anyway. Power to +12v at the battery. Ground wires to the chassis. One plug goes into the stock bulb plug. All the other plugs go from the wiring to the ballasts or from the ballasts to the bulbs.

I'm changing my timing belt and this is what I found. What does it indicate?

Correct answer. There should be a lip on both the front and the back of this gear. Sometimes one or the other falls off.
