    Clutch job woes.

Took me freakin' HOURS, but I got it. Not good for the ego to be stymied by one little nut for days. :( It seems to be a bad idea to take that lower starter bolt out first, because once the starter can move, it's hard to keep the socket on the bolt. Being capable of dislocating your wrist...

    Clutch job woes.

Okay, so the clutch started slipping. It happens. Ordered a new one from Driftmotion. No problems so far... Well, then I looked at the garage. No room. At all, and no reasonable way to make room. Then, the post office goes on strike, so the parts get delayed in arriving. Well, they got...

    Rust issues/ And repairs :)

Got a look under my car. :( there's some rather problematic spots. The wheel wells are long gone. The quarters are in pretty bad shape too. realistically, I should be looking at replacing the whole body, but I'll probably end up doing way too much work on it instead.

Any Difference in different year doors?

Even hard top vs targa, the doors themselves are the same, but the targa will have those little pins on them. The nuts are there in the hard top doors. I put doors from an '87T targa onto my '89 NA hard top. (My hinges were toast, those weren't, and the doors were in somewhat better shape...

    New Turbo, supporting mods?

Well, 2 years later, and let's see what I've done... I never did install the eBay F1 clutch. Just bought an Action Stage 3 from Aaron, which I will be installing ASAP, because the clutch I had (as expected) is done. The setup I had was never too hard on the tires, since the clutch was a weaker...

+How-To Walbro Install with 12VRelay all in one thread with Pics

12V constant mod is just the jumper under the hood. It still uses factory wiring to deliver power to the fuel pump. 12V relay mod incorporates that, plus uses aftermarket (heavier) gauge wiring to deliver power to the pump, and uses the factory wiring as a trigger for the relay. Thanks for...

    tail lights

In each tail light fixture (left/right) Reverse light: 1156 Brake/Tail lights: 1157 (Qty 2.) Signal light: 1156 Center high-mount stop light (NA) 1156. I believe that the center lamp for an '87 or '88T in the wing is also an 1156, but since I've never replaced one... The license...

Thanks to the State of West Virginia I now know my speedometer is slow

It seems that your R154 came from an older turbo with a 3.909:1 differential in it, but that doesn't account for the full difference. The difference between a 3.73 and a 3.91 only accounts for about 5% Tire size accounts for another 3.2% (225/50R16 diameter=631.4mm, 274/40R17...

Amp for SPEAKERS ONLY? Worth it?

Lol. "Steal me!" stickers. No thanks. I like my Alpine head unit. I liked my OLD Alpine amps, the circa 1994 V12 amps. From when Alpine just started the V12 line, and they actually made something decent. Then they went downhill... Ah well. I can get Herz components at the local audio...

    MPG before and after

Hmm. Oil weights... Now, I'm usually the first to say "Just because someone tried it and nothing bad happened doesn't make it a good idea." -- or at least I'd want to say it. In my NA, starting from about 100,000 km, and up until the 7M-GE came out of the car at 450,000 km, I ran 10W40 in...

what are you running for an alternator

Alternators are pretty good. They only take as much power as they need to generate the current that's needed. If you aren't drawing more than 80A from the electrical system (70A for an NA) then that will take as much power to spin as the stocker. (BTW, underdrive pulleys don't do anything...

6.5" speakers in your pre-91 doors

Heh. IF I ever find time to get back to this project... Once the speaker is fully enclosed, the door deadening shouldn't make as much difference as it would with an open baffle, however, yeah, I'd like to go that route. However, since my doors still aren't in the best of condition, I...

    noob question. O2 sensor.

Or, to be more helpful... The ECU cannot use a wideband signal, however, you CAN get a converter box which will put out a wideband signal for your gauge, or datalogger, and simulate a narowband for your ECU. In that event, you no longer need the stock sensor.

    MPG before and after

Mileage depends on your right foot. With the Lex/550s, you can get into it a bit more, and if you do, then mileage will be worse. However, if you drive in exactly the same manner with the Lex/550 as you did with the stock setup, you'll get the same mileage, particularly at part...

    a/c question??

Absolutely. The block will still have the mounting locations for the A/C compressor, and the balancer/pulley still have the location for the belt. If you're using the domestic ECU/wiring harness (Which you should be, since the JDM one has the ECU on the wrong side) then it will even have the...

Help! its raining and my windows are down!

Disconnecting the battery is a standard precaution when doing mechanical work, so you don't short out anything. As long as you don't try to start the engine and make sure that there are no loose wires shorted to ground, you'll be fine.
