Euro mirrors shouldn't "feel" any different, as long as you have LHD ones, they're almost the exact same.

I have RHD mirrors on my AE86 and they sound like you are describing. Sounds like you have RHD mirrors.

Can't be had seperately from the trim, and it's not just rubber, it's coloured and has a texture embedded in the plastic.

And do those have timing belts? ;) (I assume you mean the 1GR-FE and the 2ZZ-GE, which both use chains, as does the 2AZ-FE, 1ZZ-FE, 3UR-FE, and so on and so forth.)

No, it's internally regulated. The 3 wires on there are for various things, one is coming from the Engine 15A fuse, 1 is for the charge light on the dash, and 1 is coming from the AM1 fusible link. Then of course the main one is direct to the battery.

Generally speaking of Toyota motors, if it has a timing belt it is non-interference, and if it is interference, it will have a timing chain.

I just got a set of them in the other day, including a new targa tool bag, and 4 new caps. Hooray. PS: They're dirt cheap.
