Cars manufactured in August 1989 and on have the "7M" crank. That is the "1990" Model Year in North America, Japan doesn't use the same model year designation we do, so they would call any car made in 1989 a "1989" Supra, which confuses things.

I don't think the head gasket was proper blown, just leaking. It was a pretty much mint 100% stock car, as far as I know it was driving fine, but there was combustion gas getting into the coolant or something along those lines.
Suprabad, settle down, there's no need to be so abrasive. Generally speaking, people aren't that concerned with keeping TEMS, so it really hasn't been researched very thoroughly, in fact, this is one of the first threads I've seen regarding the issue of rebuilding/changing valving of the stock...
