If you have a carb'd car, that is true as you need the turbulance to keep the air/fuel mixed. With a fuel injected car you don't need the turbulance so smooth porting is desired.

You need a better MBC, contact DrJonez about one. It's supposed to be pretty much spike free.
I was curious too, Grim. What's the purpose of reflashing and how do you do it?
It seems to me that your hitting FCO because your settings are zero'd out. Try to tune it whereas your not running too rich (I'm assuming that your rich due to you hitting FCO). Grim is running 17 psi thru his tuned MAFT IIRC.
