Well tonight I decided not to mess with the timing belt and to work on the wiring harness as much as I could. Made good progress with the wiring harness, replaced the O rings on the injectors, cleaned up the fuel rail, installed them, connected the harness connectors to the injectors, connected...
Okay, I just walked up to my car today and saw that the notches on the cams gears are slightly off to the left of the notch on the timing cover and somehow the damn tensioner bolt didn't want to bite on the socket so it stripped a tiny bit. I will try to get a file and edge up the bolt.
I put everything at TDC, the crank and cams, then put the belt on and checked it again then did a rotation and it cam back to all at TDC, so I think I am good to go. I am thinking about leaving the timing belt cover off until I start the motor and see how it runs that way it will be easier to...
I have a question, in the TSRM it shows that the cams should be angled away from each other at about a 45 degree angle, the 2 holes with a pin sticking out on the end of the cam points away from each other like the exhaust cam points toward the passenger fender and the intake cam points toward...
Not to mention countless people telling us to put a JZ motor in it, which isn't a bad thing because those are great motors and a JZ motor in an MK3 I think is a great marriage but it gets pretty annoying when people keep saying to drop one in. I love how heavy the doors are they feel solid, it's...
When I bought my MK3 a month ago I have never been in a car that turned so many heads and have people ask me what year it is and then say nice car when I am stopped at a light. I have a head gasket failure but now I replaced it with a new one and got ARP studs torqued to 90ft lbs and it should...
The engine is already back together, the head is on and torqued down, manifolds are on, etc. Just need to finish the intake side and the wiring harness and make sure the timing is right then reinstall the radiator and such.
Lol great I mostly had distilled water in the system so it probably evaporated when it reached the cylinders. I'll at least flush it once for sure, thanks for info and cps link
yea I have the power steering reservoir loose and the thermostat housing off along with the CPS so when I put that back in shouldn't have clearance problems. Should I flush the motor with oil before I start it since i had the gasket leak? I was thinking of pouring like 10 quarts of oil through...
Yea I saw a video about timing a 7mgte the notch on the gear lines up with a hole in the top of the CPS that spines with the exhaust cam, that is correct?
I have a timing question, if the crank is at 0 and the cam gears line up with the notches on the timing cover, then the car is timed correctly or do you have to also put the belt on a certain way?
A friend of mine gave me a blow off valve since he found it but we don't know what exactly it is lol, does anyone here know?
Apparently it's a TBO blow off valve
I may need help figuring out the harness especially on the intake side if I can't find it in the TSRM but posting up pictures helps me a lot.
Here is how the car sits now
