Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

I managed to do one with the help of a friend, I used needle nose pliers to compress the spring and he used a small flat head to push the keepers in and it took about 20 minutes to get them in. My hands have been raped to say the least lol. So I should just get that compressor and I'll be able...

Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

I have a composite gasket I have no need for a metal one anytime soon lol. I also heard and have been told with composites you don't have to be anal about the surfaces.

Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

ahahah yea it worked very well it blew the puddle of water and degreaser mix around the spark plug and dried it right up. It didn't do much to get rid of the residue from the old gasket but it shouldn't affect anything since I can't feel them with my fingers right?

Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

I let it sit for half an hour or so and sprayed it down and spent time with carb cleaner and a wire brush cleaning the exhaust and intake ports and EGR cooler and replaced that gasket. I should mention after I sprayed it down I used a leaf blower to blow off as much water as possible.

Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

I replaced the stem seals I had to re use two old ones in good condition because somehow the top part of the new ones came off. Tomorrow I will get to cleaning the EGR cooler, replace that gasket, remove the crank pulley and change the timing belt and tensioner, then pretty much slap on the head...

That is exactly what I was thinking, use the side of the brush and lightly go over it.

Those drill wire brushes won't damage the block and head? My exhaust threads seem fine from what I can tell, some of the studs did come out with the nut though.
