    jdm or rebuild?

If you're going with stock pistons, go with stock rods too. The stock pistons will fail before stock rods will. Stock internals will handle 450rwhp all day long.

    jdm or rebuild?

I personally wouldn't use a JDM motor. I thought about it a year ago, but then I thought that I would be doing just as well as buying one from the local junk yard instead of having one shipped from another junk yard located across a big pond. Go with a rebuild, IMO

    Rakkasan's rebirth

Me neither. The funeral is Monday, which I will attend. I'm sure there will be a lot of tears, he was only 28 years old. I worked a lot today on get the rest of my stuff ready to go on the motor once I get it. I finished my polishing today & I'll try to get the intercooler on Monday.

LOL, yes. I have about 30 hours in polishing already. There are a few parts that aren't shown. Thanks Ian! I'm going to unseat Duane from the 'cleanest MKIII' throne. :biglaugh:

    help.....polishing

I finished my polishing. All I have left to do is coat all the pieces with zoopseal. I found a polish that is loads better than Mothers. A lot better.

    90 Turbo

Don't know if it's doable or not, but that's a really good idea. Put a solid mount on the tension side of the motor to firm it up, and a soft mount on the compression side to tame the vibrations.

    Rakkasan's rebirth

sheesh, I'm starting to think this whole rebuild was snake bit from the start. The machine shop I've turned my motor to is owned by a gut named Bill & his son, Scott, works for him, doing a bulk of the work. While I've had my troubles getting my motor completed, Scott has been doing an...

    knock, knock, knocking on...

exactly. Fatality is saying that the knocking condition only occurs when the A/C is on. My thoughts are that the the harmonic balancer was damaged from being driven while loose. That's a given. Now after fatality tightens it, he can tighten it just enough to end the chatter. But when the...

    Opinions on engine management choice...please

It's been proven that you can't sustain a big power motor with a ghetto set up. If you want a motor that puts down over 400ish rwhp reliably, build it correctly using quality parts that complement each other.

    knock, knock, knocking on...

When you have the A/C belt too tight, it causes the rear passenger tire to lose its' balance & the vibration transfers through the unibody to the motor causing the harmonic balancer to come loose. :icon_conf
