What does it take to go E85? Advantages/Disadvantages?

Regardless of politics, some of us do not have access to a better fuel to use for higher performance applications. I don't have a place to get anything more potent than 91 without using E85, that is even remotely close to 'local'. That said, I read a rather interesting piece in Motortrend this...

Cost effective upper control arm suggestions/opinions?

How high do you need to get the engine? Without a forklift of engine hoist, about the only thing that comes to my mind is a decent floor jack (one of the nice heavy 2-3 ton ones). Not sure you would be able to use the thing in your picture... ...unless, get a piece of chain to run between the...

John Smith Group A supra at world time attack

Does it just depend on the track that you're at, as far as smoothness? I have literally no real life experience on a track (other than a couple minor kart tracks as a kid), so Gran Turismo and Youtube are my only point of reference... seems to me though, that some tracks (Spa comes to mind) are...

    Don't be alarmed!

I won't call it a mistake (rather a learning experience haha), but I did the same thing. As a result, I've learned it is just best to leave my passenger window up if I can help it, since my window motor or regulator is on its way out. Good luck to you sir! :p

    Need your help(as always) lol!

I guess it does just slide out, just always found it easier (on my car at least) to pull the tops of the seats off first. Thanks for the clarification though. :)

    sloppy shift

Not really sure. Mine came off the JZA70 my engine came from, had a documented 67k miles on it, so it is fairly fresh still. Only grinds a bit on rare occasions, or if I don't commit fully to slamming it through the gears... To answer your question though, a Mk3 can be properly quick if driven...

    Rear Hatch Glass Replacement Questions

There is a great thread on glass replacement in Off Topic posted by Jeff Lange, you would do well to read through it to get an idea of what all is involved in such a job. :)

Why does Toyota use 7mge in rally more often?

I like it. Then again, I always did like that body (EK?) and color combo... A car doesn't *need* to be low to handle, it does tend to help though (lower center of gravity being what it is and all), as long as suspension geometry and alignment can be retained within a reasonable margin. Does look...

    Another new toy for me

Just joined the big baller club along with ya, picked up an LS400. Granted, mine isn't anywhere near as cool as yours, but I bought it for a different purpose. ;)

    Question for performance experts ..

I could probably count how many 'experts' we have around here without taking off my shoes, so I'm in that boat with you sir. Just learning by experience myself... Well, maybe not for the detonation aspect, but for cooling the incoming air and the ability to advance the timing more than without...

[1jzgte-MA70] I keep hitting the FC on cold days(night)

Thanks for clearing that up. My ecu might be tuned then... interesting, it doesn't have any indication of being tinkered with, no stickers or anything like that. No boost cut (that I'm willing to find anyway), no speed cut... hmm. As for mine, I'm running a Turbosmart mbc. Had a ball and spring...

Notice which car he ISN'T trading...

You got it RadioD, that was the guy. Did he actually end up buying the Ferrari at some point, or just posing next to one? If he ended up with the Ferarri, good for him, that's pretty awesome.

    sloppy shift

Dude, people in J-body GM's will race anything. I should know, owned one for 5 years... was a piece of crap, but was a piece of crap for a LONG time. ;) Running MT-90 on my car, no complaints in nearly 3 years of running with the stuff. Any bad shifts were 99% my own fault. As for our cars 1st...

    Need your help(as always) lol!

You'll be alright, just be careful. Car is getting on in years, things get fragile if your car has been exposed much. Shouldn't take too long though. Granted, I've done the interior on my car so many times, I could have everything other than the dash out in less than an hour. :)

What does it take to go E85? Advantages/Disadvantages?

So, non-ethanol 91 octane will have the same detonation resistance as e10 or e15 91, but will (obviously) have more energy to use? Just trying to make sure I'm on the right page here... Same here. Could care little about how or why it exists, the mere fact that it can extract the power that it...

    Test run engine stand

I don't see anything wrong with using a subframe from the car to hold it in place while test running it. Just make sure it can't go anywhere. ;)
