My restoration project - Rusty 89

Was the plate travel non-linear before? It looks the way the black piece was slotted into the silver one that were made to swing the silver piece faster as you get closer to WOT. I see that kind of thing on a lot of cars.

Alternative source for a new R154

yeah I'm working on using a colorado AR5 in my car.. you'll have to pick up a pilot bearing from mcmaster-carr or something. getting the shifter in the right spot is also a problem I still have to solve... it's a little more complicated with the colorado trans than the solstice one.

    vintage toyota!

Hey guys, I got a hold of a really old toyota, I mean oooold, and it's still in great shape. It's been indoors for most of it's life so nothings really had a chance to corrode. It's not a Supra but there's a lot of knowledgable people here so I figured you could help me in picking out...

    Miekedmr's build thread

That's a good point about the seal. I did a bit more work on suspension stuff. *dead links* My adjust bolts finally got shipped from the dealer. There's not a lot left to do suspension-wise besides painting steel stuff with por15 and putting it all back together. I hope everyone who looks at...

    Miekedmr's build thread

Well, I think I'm going to get the r154 tail housing, and then see whether it's easier to move the shifter location on this housing or extend the r154 housing somehow. I'm not worried about needing a different driveshaft as I was going to either get a one-piece or a custom two-piece anyways...

    Miekedmr's build thread

I got some measurements of the housing. It's almost exactly 14" from the sandwich plate out to the tip of the output shaft. I'm also sure now that this tail housing puts the shifter too far forward. http://sentience.rh.rit.edu/pics/trans1.jpg http://sentience.rh.rit.edu/pics/trans2.jpg...

    ceramic coating

Oops, wrong. Ceramic coating piston heads, cumbustion chambers, valves, exhaust ports, etc has all been done. The benefits I can think of, though some might be negligable: Increased thermal efficiency of combustion cooler pistons (a good thing; the point of oil squirters) and valves reduction...

    Miekedmr's build thread

I appreciate it. I'll have to get that measurement when I'm back in town for christmas. (This project is on a super-relaxed schedule thanks to me being in school and/or working ~200 miles away most of the time.)

    Miekedmr's build thread

Thanks cj, I'm sure I'll have some questions. I've been following your thread and it's been helpful. Since this transmission is out of a 2WD Colorado as opposed to the Solstice (only documented AR5 into A70 I know of,) I wasn't sure how the shifter would line up. From looking at it I think...
