best mod is a good mhg, with proper block machining and head rebuilding. it's cheapest if you can do 90% of the work your self, but not every one can. fix any oil leaks, replace cam seals, vavle cover seals, timming belt, water pump exhuast manifold gasket, turbo oil line gaskets,

what i heard about acetone is it raises the octane, and doesn't improve milage. though i do admit i was not happy with some of the testing they did for alternate fuels.
