The Luxocruiser 3650 lb sled thread

Great job taking care of this car and not cutting corners... I always thought it was nice they had a low power mode for the pump.

    Race Ready 7M

Sorry to hear that. Oil getting past otherwise-good seals would usually mean there is too much oil pressure on the supply side of turbo (need more restriction) or that the drain isn't draining easily enough and is backing up. With a relatively stock turbo setup it seems unlikely you'd have too...

High compression high RPM 7M-GE build

IJs build thread was... huge, instructive, occasionally funny, overflowing with car part/shop porn, and... huge. I would even say legendary. multiple built heads, multiple turbo setups, MOTEC with LPG and custom injection stuff... I liked that it was all function first, form second. But I don't...

    Miekedmr's build thread

Since nobody wants to guess or comment or anything... It's an electric oil pump and pressure regulator. I am creating a pre-oiling system. It will allow me to have oil pressure before starting the engine. I can also use it to circulate oil through the engine/turbos for a little bit after the...

    1UZ kaido style MKIII build

MK3Zeke: The camber actually looks more reasonable on that Cresta photo than in your rendering so maybe the rendering is just a little deceiving.

A lot has changed since I've been involved with the Supra community.

I don't think anyone has challenged it. It's just that good of a record. :) What did you dyno with that setup again, malloynx?

    Homemade V12 w/2J Heads

I think it might be 120 degrees. That would make a bit more sense, right? 6 journals, 60 degrees apart. edit: yeah I've seen it claimed as 120 degrees where someone was talking about it.

    1UZ kaido style MKIII build

QFT. Quoted for truth. Or maybe QASCFT. Quoted and spell-corrected for truth. :) Don't let me tell you how to build your car but when I see camber like that I become... lost. It's been explained that camber helps handling in some ways but when I see the extreme stuff it doesn't seem like...

    Miekedmr's build thread

I was reading back and saw the post where limequat asked how much I paid for the driveshaft. Then I proceeded to not answer the question, leaving him to go look up the price on driftmotion. The answer was $440. Sorry, limequat. Costs so far, as rough estimates: Bryans wonderful car: $5000...

    Oil T-stat question

hvyman: I am not using the stock oil cooler, I'm using a screw-on adapter with built in tstat, and the filter goes over that. atmperformance: where's the fail, bud?

    Oil T-stat question

what would you guys suggest for alternate hook up points (on a 1JZ)? Drill and tap a hole into oil galley? Turbo oil supply line would also be an option. Right now I don't have a filter relocation kit so there's no line there for me to attach to, hence looking at the cooler line as a place.

    Oil T-stat question

What I'm saying is that IF the t-stat I have works internally the way I think it does, then pumping oil into the cooler circuit would work fine, because it would always be pressurized, it just wouldn't have oil flowing through it since it becomes a "leg" of the oil system instead of a series...

    Oil T-stat question

hvyman: So are you with backlash? the return line from the oil cooler can't supply pressure to the engine when the tstat is cold?
  18. miekedmr

    Oil T-stat question

That's what I was worried about, but I think that maybe the restriction limiting it to 10% of flow is only blocking the oil from going out to the cooler, as opposed to the other way: from the cooler back into the engine. If you look at pictures of the standalone t-stats like this...

    Oil T-stat question

So, I know generally that an oil thermostat redirects flow from a "bypass path" to the cooler path as it heats up. Here's the question: When the thermostat is closed off cold, is the oil cooler still under pressure? (Is it still connected at the cooler exit to the engine oil when the...
