That s typical for a crack there and it doesn't hurt anything. How much free play does it have? Can you push the wheel to one side and does the wheel blades scrap the side of the housing?

If I remember correctly the stock U-joints can't really be replaced on the stock drive shaft without some sort of modification done to them.

The rods would just need to be checked to make sure the end that attaches to the crank is not out-of-round. When you start budgeting and putting a time limit on something such as a engine build you really shouldn't cut corners unless you want an engine you will end up spending more money on...

Yeah I heard you just need to trim the wastegate piping back like you did and it would work fine.
