Just remember one thing. When you graduate and (if) find a job. You are not going to be making big money. I dont know what they said possibilities are but around dealers here pay around $15 hr with the school certificate. Different areas of the country will vary. But your not going to get out...
I would buy considering you live the Datsun. Have fun with it and work on yours in spare time.
If yours is as rare as you say, you should put it back the way it was supposed to be. And beat on this one. :biggrinbo
Sounds like a decent deal considering what he has in it. But that usually...
Since you already ordered, this for future reference. I use these guys alot at work. You can send for a catalog too because the online catalog is a pain to find stuff. Nice to have laying around. They have tons of stuff. I bought some braided wire covering for high heat applications for example...
Check the junction block on pass kick panel. There should be 4 harness to harness connectors somewhere close. Im not talking about the eng harness stuff.. One might be unhooked if you had the ac stuff out. They connect the junction box to dash harness.

Plug M1 has most of the wiring for the dash (gauges). Other stuff runs thru on the other side. So theres another problem.
Do you have your radio trim out with cig lighter and hazard switch unhooked?
I know the hazard switch not plugged in will stop the turn signals.
Check fuses.

One of the plugs you were talking about that isnt hooked up should be the problem. If you could post a picture of the plugs not hooked (car side). I can tell you which one. I will check manual shortly and post the plug. I didnt think the fogs went thru there though.

The reason the dp hits the tranny is because the pipe points straight back and the exhaust angles to the drivers side. So when you bolt the two together it kicks the dp into the tranny. Since your running a convertor you could have the downpipe bent some if theres a shop that has a bender...
Why exactly would you want to run an open dp on a street car?
Maybe its just me because I am older. But it doesnt sound cool.
Not to mention carbon monoxide poisoning. You do realize that?
Just my 2 cents worth

Just to note.
I ran a stock gasket. Felpro. They looked the same as Factory.
60-1, lexus afm, 550's, upgraded pump, built new motor. I ran 1 bar all day long and occasionally 18psi. This setup for over three years. Never any problems. Always at safe afr's.
The key here is safe afr's...
Wait untill I get my current one built for my dragcar. Its gonna be nice. Greddy manifold, 72mm T4, yady ya,yady ya, yady ya. :naughty:
Few things still needed before I can get it in. On hold untill job comes along.

Pull the hose off the tb port (the one that goes to valve covers) See how much suction you feel there(vacuum). If that port isnt restricted, you should get a bunch. Thats why i said to check the oil fill cap. You will get some there if vacuum is being applied to the crankcase. I will double...
Another thing you could do on the plastics (if the paint becomes a problem) is to use Krylon Plastic paint. They have it in Satin and this stuff sticks better to plastic than anything I ever have seen before.
Now all you need to do is get that steering wheel re-covered. :icon_bigg
