One thing I can say about all of those cars -
90% of people who purchased them from the lot never planned on doing any of their own maintenance. That may have an effect on parts availability.
What pisses me off about the SR20 is that the 240 owners act like it's their last and final option in life.
Seriously, I believe it was Turbo mag who said that the 240 got the short end of the stick, and that all of the other Japanese performance cars were lucky because they don't need a swap...
My light didn't come on, and I didn't pull to one side, either.
I'm not saying that this is your problem - I am just relaying my experience.
If you jack the car up and the wheel spins freely when you turn it, might just be an ABS sensor or something.
Dude.. how thick are the washers? It's not a number of washers that determines things - it's the distance that you are shimming. What one man accomplishes with 5 washers, another may need 10. Best to get an aftermarket boost gauge and experiment until you are getting the amount of boost you...
ABS sensor? Maybe your caliper gets locked?
I had a caliper that locked up on me - was smoking. I was lucky in two cases with this - #1 that there was a large puddle where I lived, and when I drove through it, it cooled the brake area and let off steam that I saw VERY well when I got out of the...
I'd hate to swerve away from the topic at hand, but where in this thread did someone say that DSMs suck?
Instead of a VPC harness from HKS, can you just buy one from AAP? They have had some for sale, might be cheaper than HK$ [while being the same or better quality possibly]?
Yeah, if you can get a "hook up" with someone at the Toyota Parts department, you can get some lifesaving deals. Buying through someone on the inside saved me about $100 on oil pan hardware alone.
Laguna Seca.
The Nur is awesome, and may be one of the best knowntuning and performance tracks in the world, but it's just too long for me. I don't think I'd be thrilled about that course unless I was running it IRL. In-game, it's an endurance race of it's own.
To crack loose stubborn nuts/bolts, I slip one end of a large dog-bone [double-sided closed-end wrench] on the end of my ratchet handle. Push on the dog bone. It makes it so easy - it's kinda like using a pulley to assist in lifting instead of just lifting.
Lil cars with bigger-than-intended engines are great.
..like that 1G MR2 I saw with the V-8. Same idea - take a 4A-GE powered car and replace it with a V-8 - except I think that MR2 had a non-Toyota V-8.
You aren't the only one.
When I swap engines, I plan to also get whatever body pieces and re-paint the car. At that time, I want to remove all stock badging and "identification" except for maybe a pre-'90 "Supra" front badge.
Too much - get some buddies with tools, order some pizza and beer, and do it yourself [with their help], man.
I didn't know anything about my car when I installed my EVC, and 2 months at 11psi destroyed my stock clutch. I smoked it out completely about 1/4 mile from the Toyota dealer. I bought...
No.. a 2JZ clutch will not work in a R154. The V160 bellhousing is larger, and I do not think that the 2JZs disc can fit inside - plus, there may be more or less splines.
7M-GTE with R154: 7M-GTE clutch and flywheel
1JZ-GTE with R154: 7M-GTE/1JZ-GTE clutch and 1JZ flywheel
2JZ-GTE with...
I love to get "Flashin' Fruit Punch" flavored Hi-C juice boxes, throw them in the freezer, then cut the tops open and use a spoon to scrape it into a slushie.
