i had a friend that also brought his car to so called reputable and professional engine builder that gave him back a hack job and a motor that needed to be rebuilt with less than 5 miles on it.
you need to bring it to someone with some 7m experience.
best advice i could give you is take your time looking for one. you don't want to rush into buying a twenty year old car and expect to daily drive it without problems along the line and money to be spent
good luck
i know a few people running the ford contour fans with big hp and no problem.
I believe it is 95-96 v6 contour fans that they use and they fit up very nicely
if you already swap the cluster from Na>turbo than there is something wrong in the wiring if the tach worked before the swap. i good check would be if you have someone local with a turbo car willing to let you swap clusters just to check.
by any chance did you do a na>turbo swap? I see in your profile you have a w58 transmission. If so change the cluster to a turbo cluster or there is a way to change a resistor or some sort in the cluster. It as to do with the different ignition system.
While driving, if you turn the steering wheel slightly left or right and the noise goes away its the bearings. it is more of a roaring sound than a squeal.

i knew Shaeff would be the one to chim in on this. i kinda figure the na k/s was located in the center of the block and Shaeff is right since your still on the n/a electronics tie the two k/s together. i wasn't realy thinkin when i said just use one k/s and leave the other one for a spare, i...
the na head will bolt up to the block with out a problem. As far as the knock sensors go there is two on the gte block. i'm not sure how the knock sensor is located on the ge block and i realy don't want to give you bad information but it might be possible just to run it off of one knock sensor...
