When my new engine's done I plan on trying out the "hard" break in. I plan on doing about three WOT pulls right after rebuild. Let the car warm up, WOT in 2nd almost to redline, let off, and let the car slow itself back down without using the clutch. Park it, let it cool down, repeat two more...
I believe i was a certain type of clutch disc material that "welded" to the friction plate of the flywheel. I read the thread that your talking about but can't remember what material it was. IIRC it was more prone to happen with full faced clutches with that material. A quick search should yield...
Nice job on the radiator fan shroud, I had an idea similar to that where I would have a single FAL fan on the oposite side where you had yours and keep the stocker. The concept would be the FAL fan would be wired up to run all the time and help cool the engine better in lower rpms and have the...
Maybe you should buy one of those and turn around and say, "hey, the diaphram broke like 2 days after i bought the damn thing, can i have my refund per the 1 year warranty?". It might work.... Maybe
Look into getting a wideband (if you don't have one already) and post back what your a/f ratios are. I'm goin with the other guys on here and saying it could be a little detonation due to some GE hardware or being out of timing.
I believe your car should fall off on power in the upper rpms due to the restrictive stock ic piping and intercooler. Get those bottlenecks out and that should clear up the loss of power up top.
I'm not sure how the ssqv is built on the inside, but it sounds like there could be some kind of seal busted on it. It could be due to being a knock off brand, they're usually made with cheaper quality parts, you may want to consider buying a new one (if you can't afford the name brand, get...
I don't know if it was the kid that I bought mine off of or a previous owner before him, but my car was (and still is) beat up:
There is a good sized dent in the passenger side door (all damage done to this car is on that side), the mirror was broke off (only half left, replaced it with a...
Installed my aftermarket coolant resivoir tank, still checking the catch can to see if it's starting to build up some sludge, and been driving around in the supra enjoying the good weather.
BTW, the cluster looks like it's gonna have some potential. Keep us updated on that is I might be...
Yeah, I thought I had read some where on here that having anything above 80 psi at WOT on our engines would be bad for them. That's where I got my garbage from, but I see the truth in the Supra God's words now. I had also heard something about the "blowing a turbo seal" too. How exactly would...
Have you tried to push the valve open with your fingers? See if something could have gotten into the inside of it somehow and is keeping it from opening.
The supra by nature is a low oil pressure engine. You can actually decrease the life of the bearings by increasing the oil pressure (I wouldn't have the oil pressure any higher than 50-55 psi at WOT).
