Try doing q boost leak with the throttle closed. That way the pipes can hold pressure instead of going out the exhaust. Also run soapy water over all the connections.

Your lean idle is prolly from the screw being backed out. Screw it in.
Under boost on stock Ecu you will see 9-10:1 all day long. It's tuned for safety.

Ls is all alum. 302 is cast iirc. Ls weighs about the same as a cast 4 banger.
Could also use a 1uz. There all alum with 6 bolt mains. Quad cam. Those are pretty beasty and can be found at any junkyard all day long.

And ya you only need about 8 wires on the 2 cut Ecu pigtails.
Then just uses volt meter. Find the water temp sensor oil pressure and such. Delete hydrofab wires if your not using them. And there are some others. Need to run the main power...
Any seals that were on there way out will be toast when you switch to synthetic. Possible you just have a oil leak and the oil is smoking being so hot and close to the turbo.
