No, it will not blow coil packs and it will not prevent the engine from starting. The drain wire has nothing to do with the ignition system's ability to generate spark. It *does not* supply circuit ground for it. That function is provided by the igniter, which must be grounded to the chassis in...
Sigh. I warned you, post bad info and you'll get called on it. As an SME that's what I'm tasked with doing. It's entirely up to me to decide if I want to educate the ignorant or those that don't know what they don't know and as anyone here will tell you I don't spoon feed such people. Besides...
No, it's just you. The problem is you're trying to apply generalities to a specific car. That's useless, even harmful, in a Tech forum dedicated to a specific car. Less posting and more reading of the manual is recommended.
It's "sense" btw...
You're wrong. Period. Educate yourself by learning to read a schematic. Since I've noticed you've peppered the forum with several other questionable posts I'll say it again: if you don't know what you're talking about refrain from posting in Tech unless you actually want to be called on the...
That's outright wrong. If you don't know what you're talking about you should refrain from posting in the tech section. We have enough misinformation around here as it is...
You're getting the code because ECU input STA is not going high when the key is held to start and yes, it will cause cold start issues.
It's important. You'd be surprised to learn what the TCCS does with that signal. For example it fires all 6 injectors at once during a start. STA is also...
The coil pack bracket "ground" wire is a Foucault Drain:
http://tinyurl.com/l3z2r
It's there to suppress eddy currents induced into the bracket. It will not prevent the engine from starting. If it does you have other problems. That said if you put a scope on it while disconnected you'll...
I assume that was directed at me. Where is it written I have to publicly help him? The truth is it's the a-holes around here that cause me to use PMs instead of posting for everyone's benefit...
Schraders are handy. Never understood why Toyota didn't do as many automakers and put one in. I drilled and tapped my CSI bolt just to install a miniature stainless steel quick connect that I use for everything from fuel pressure measurements to on-the-car injector cleanings. If you do something...
OP: It means: 1) I see things in your mods that could cause those issues and 2) I don't often reply to those who modify their cars without an understanding of what they're doing. Frankly, you should be grateful I made an exception.

Based on your mods I'll withhold comment on the other symptoms but the above behavior is normal. Whenever rpm falls that low the ECU initiates an MIL burn out check. It exits that test when rpm crosses back over 500. The same check is performed when the engine is started.
Intermittent codes are "soft" in that they will be set in memory but not light the MIL. Hard faults, those that remain unresolved until certain other parameters are met, will illuminate the MIL. Even then in all but two cases the MIL will extinguish if the fault clears itself. The code however...
Yes although perhaps I didn't explain it right. Look at situation 2. When between ports the valve is modulated based on port E and exhaust pressure. When R is open the valve is run off it.
^ Right. Iirc you're also supposed to wait something like 5 minutes after disconnecting the battery before working on any of it's components and here's hoping disconnecting the battery is the first thing you're going to do on this job...
The GE uses two stage ported vacuum to control the EGR valve (via the modulator) while the GTE does not. Basically that means during the first stage on a GE when only the first TB port is active the amount of EGR delivered is related to the amount of exhaust back pressure. At higher throttle...
