Please dont ignore the obvious signs already present...
Any sort of whitish deposit on the oil cap is a huge red flag. Thats most likely from the coolant that has migrated along the mating surface of the head/block form the water jackets to the oil passages. This coolant will ruin your oil's...
Is this a test? Because you just mentioned about every single tell-tale sign of a BHG. I would get that fixed asap. Your oil is being contaminated as we speak...
Your speed is determined by your transmission, your differential, your tire size and your engine speed(rpm). I'm not even going to search, but 40mph sounds normal for 6k rpm in an R154. :dunno:
A leak of ANY sort will not affect how fast you are going in a given gear/rpm.
If you are new to...
I say if you have any time/money to devote to another car, whether it be for a project or dd, offer him 500.
You can hardly go wrong for 500. You should be able to get a couple hundred simply recycling the metal from the head and block and parting small stuff out.
I would love to find a cheap...
Head on and it looks sooooo purdy!!! Note: I took this pic after I'd installed the head studs and the cam covers. Yours will not look wuite this complete at this stage. duh.
Ok so now you need to get the head fastened down. I chose to use ARP head studs because they are re-useable again and...
Ok well I'm adding some more pics now and I'll give a few more descriptions, but I still have a dozen or so pics to add later.
I started to clean the block with gasket remover and it worked well in some area, but left quite a bit of graphite gasket material behind.
A scraper was then...
-mill the head, FOR SURE
-Cheap gasket set
-Toyota HG
-be sure to use a tap on the block's head bolt holes to ensure you get a clean install. (driftmotion sells them cheap.)
-TAKE YOUR TIME
I replaced a bunch of other crap like hoses and such on mine, but all you really NEED to do is the head...
In this case you should make it a PRIORITY to check your oil VERY often.
If not, you'll be another rod knock victim in no time complaining about the unreliability of the 7m. Like Cuel said, you won't see any indication of low oil in the car until you're permanently screwed.
Please check...
I used Solidworks in school and it was cake. You could learn it in a few weeks of messing around. The more complex stuff gets tricky, but its a very intuitive program.
You can find free versions of CAD software online....
The real deal isn't really meant for students or kids anyways.
Something like this seems like a less expensive means to back up rather than buying 3 hard drvies... http://www.geeksquad.com/services/detail.aspx?id=874
I work for BB, so I hear about this all the time, but I'm sure there are other companies that offer a similar set-up.
Driving anything but a Honda is reason enough to check your oil levels. Its a part of owning a vehicle. Its CRUCIAL if you drive an older vehicle.
About your pressure reading:
If there is enough oil to reach the oil pump's pick-up then your oil pressure will be good(in theory). If your oil is...
Were you checking your oil level with the dipstick at all?
If so, you should be telling us how that went, if not you need to do that now. With your fresh oil change it will be very easy to log your oil levels. Then you will know how your oil level is changing.
At first I was going to say you're crazy johnathan, for wanting to buy an auto.
Then you said you'd be trading the porsche for it.... DO IT!!!!!
If that guy accepts the porsche for that you have hit a gold mine. GOOD LUCK!!!
