A video may help us with this. A "rattle" is really vague. Even with a video it's hard to tell, but right now it's really just us grasping at random straws.
Coolant overflow under load can be a sign of a blown head gasket. Water jackets dont seal -> combustion gas pressure leaks into the water jacket and pushes coolant out anywhere it can -> overflow fills and purges coolant.
I have limited experience with fresh machining for MHGs looking anything like that. That being said... I can't see that sealing with an MHG. Maybe with an OEM composite gasket, but the MHGs really should have a good flat surface to seal on.
Sorry man.
I'd recommend the tanabe and koni combo like what I have. Nice, even drop, but still high enough that you don't have to sweat every pull or out on an angled driveway.
If you sell it you really need to disclose that problem. Hopefully your conscience won't allow you to do that to another person.
It does seem real odd the block would crack there. Here's my suggestion: Get a radiator pressure test kit with the correct cap so you can hand pump pressure into the...
Welcome! I started my Supra ownership as a mechanical engineering student. 8 years later I still love it. It's a great platform for learning and not necessarily expensive if you keep it a little more subtle/basic.
My advice to you is to keep it basic while you're in school. Don't cut corners...
While these things may be true, I ran an Auto ECU on my 88 "Undead" mk3 for a few thousand miles over a summer and never noticed any hiccups. Idle always seemed good, gear changes were just like normal.
While you may have some missing functionality somewhere in the ECU programming it's...
Yeah, i spent some time with a razor and it wasn't easy. An exacto blade would probably be best, but still a pain and I cringe every time I touch that corner edge of the glass.
Sides first. Start at the bottom on one side and work your way up. With the TSRM you can see where each clip should be. When you get to the top corners be mindful of the interlocking pieces. The middle/upper slides into the corner piece, which is a part of the side piece. You may need to leave...
Well I wrangled the trim pieces off last week and failed to get the new ones to stay well. I took a bunch of video so I'll post that up when I get the time to upload it and maybe edit it.
I had zero "fasteners". My trim was held in solely by the windshield adhesive and the trim clips which...
Long overdue Update:
The car passed emissions with flying colors with a new catalytic converter. The old one was clearly not working well. Since then I've learned that metallic core cats generally have very little catalyst material compared to a regular cat and commonly fail early.
Lessons...
If this were my engine and I had your results I'd plan on a rebuild. Head Gasket job at a minimum. If it's a second car and you can afford to be down I'd do a full engine rebuild.
Bad compression across the board, bad leak down results with gurgling and an inability to hold pressure.
Just different systems to do similar tuning. What makes the SAFC a bad choice for stock injectors? It doesn't matter what injectors you have. The "tuning" in all piggyback systems (SAFC and MAFT alike) is all about tricking the Factory ECU by trimming the sensor signals going to the ECU. You can...
Hopefully somebody else can chime in with SAFC2 experience. Beyond the real basics I'm not much help here. Never used the SAFC myself.
Was the car running perfectly before the SAFC addition?
Hmm... The cam covers share air space with the block/dipstick (piston rings gone bad) or the valves (intake or exhaust). Are you sure there wasn't anything from the dipstick or intake/exhaust?
