Me too!
WTF is wrong with having pride of ownership in a N/A. My car and I started out N/A. It was good N/A and it's even better now that it's turbo.
In fact, I would much rather start out with a non-abused N/A and convert it than try to restore some thrasher turbo. Much easier to find a...
Check your afm, specifically the connection where it plugs into your wiring harness. What you described sounds exactly like a bad connection or a malfunctioning afm. It's probably just the connector.
Dude!!! I'm blown away...those rims look awesome on your Mkiii!!!
What year of Mustang did they come off of, and what size are they? Did they require spacers?
Please fill me in.
Killer.
I looked at their ebay store and as it turns out they are in Canoga Park (about 15 minutes away from me).
And they "welcome pick-ups".
I may give them a call and see if I can get a look at them.
More like your crankcase has become a compressor and it's blowing your oil past the rings. Probably due to ring and cylinder wear. Leak down test outta confirm this.
Time to reach for the wallet.
If the rings didn't seat right after installation (it happens) then blow by is pretty common...
I could mess with the valve body and hardened planetary gears etc, but I am way over 400hp and no problems, good firm shifts with the current set-up. So why bother.
Edit: I forgot to mention I'm running lsd 4:30's, so I'd say it's a pretty stout trans.
If I was going to use something else...
I still say snake oil.
Yeah, it might help a little, but these guys are saying an average of 10hp and 12ft lbs of torque. From a heat insulating gasket??? Puhleeeeeeze!
If someone out there has used one and says different, I'll listen, but it sounds way to good to be true. Just my two...
Even if it insulated the heat from the block transfering to the intake manifold, (which I doubt) the ambient temperature surrounding the intake manifold in the engine bay would compensate for it.
Snake oil.
Yeah, I thought it odd that you would overlook that, considering the obvious amount of work and expense you clearly have spent on the motor.
Again, good work.
Looks good.
Now you gotta dump that stock fan and go electric. As nice as your motor looks I'm surprised you haven't done that yet.
Edit: I just went back and looked again at the photos, maybe that is electric, it looked to me like the stock shroud, threw me off. Still not sure. Will...
Did you read the post? Stall speed? Kevlar clutches? Cooler?
That's "not just shimming accumulators", and yes, on a car with comparable power it's way quicker, especially out of the hole.
That'd be my vote. Otherwise the noise would more likely be constant.
Although, I've seen a badly warped flywheel making uneven contact with the clutch plate make noise. Usually acompanied by shudder upon engagement.
Almost 2 years since I posted on this thread.
Since then, I rebuilt mine with kevlar clutches, bumped the stall speed up, shimmed the accumulators and added a good size trans cooler.
Guess what? I have beat the snot out of this tranny with 0 problems.
So I guess a340e's don't...
Mid 400's in daily driver trim, more when I need to. But I've seen cars with alot less hp do the same.
I hit the junkyard and picked up 3 or 4 of the back piece of the shaft and just switch u-joints when they break.
You can tell cause you'll get a vibration in the seat of your pants when...
