Is it the louder than stock sound that's bothering you, or is it the droning sound the exhaust makes at low rpms when you step on the gas or going up a hill at low rpms?
For me it's the droning sound that fills up your ears when I gass it at low rpm. It seems to go away as the motor...
As I understand it, the pure one does a good job filtering out the smallest of particals, but unfortunately does not flow to well due to it's many (64) pleats.
Whereas the K&N is 55 pleats, has a better drain back valve (thicker body too as I remember) and flows quite a bit better. Which is...

Very well.
No need to go beyond stock at 500 hp.
No big dollar issues there.
I can't believe you can say this with a straight face.
400 or 500 hp on motor alone out of an LS is not a big deal, on the other hand, that kind of horesepower out of a 7M is pushing it pretty good...
Yeah that's what it is...many times the rubber piece that is supposed to be in side it gets old and hard and shrinks up, and then the filter falls off.
I'm still hoping that someone will post some pic's and some information on a completed or near completed LS, and some details about the swap.
I've found you can save yourself alot of trouble by learning from someone elses trial and error.
I'm kinda surprised there's not more of these...
chunks, I'm looking at all your replys...
There's a definite pattern in your posts...you have changed the criteria, blurred the facts, insulted the dissenting opinionators, and overlooked, ignored or just plain pretended like anything you couldn't address or overcome with a logical arguement...
Here's the harsh reality:
If working on it all the time bothers you, or a $500 part unnerves you...sell it, 'cause it's only going to get worse from here.
Look alot better molded in, if you like that kind of thing.
I'm old school I guess, can't see myself driving around with all that flash gordon body work...too "Tokyo Drift" for me.
Big $$$'s to pay someone else.
I can't believe how many of you guys have mechanics, tuners, body...
Assume we had two Supra's, one with a 500 hp LSX and one with a 500 hp 7m.
Let's say both of them are well assembled, both with high quality parts, and meticulous attention to detail by someone who knows what they are doing.
All this being equal, the LSX motor is going to be more...
As compared to what? Your 7mgte? Guess what Mr. T, I also own one.
Yeah that's right... FIRST OHV V8 PRODUCTION MOTOR WITH A REDLINE IN EXCESS OF 7K (7100rpm). Just wanted to make it clear. And it's a big bore motor.
oh and by the way Wrongo... I had a 69 302 Z28. I know just about...
As I understand, that's because Australia imposes huuuuge import tariffs.
Can't blame Chevrolet for that.
Now that the US dollar is pretty weak it should make it a little easier on you, but that won't last forever, and it still doesn't even come close to making up the difference of what...
Dude...it so doesn't work like that.
There are a lot more factors than 500hp vs 600hp. To name a few:
Suspension
Gearing
Tires (better bring slicks, and know how to work them for temp, if you want to hook-up) which brings up:
Lane choice and someone who can stage you and keep...
Lag sucks.
5k-10k? Are you refering to 5000 to 10,000 rpm's? Are you serious?
I don't know anyone with a 7m or JZ anything that rev's reliably (or any other way) to 10,000rpm.
A big turbo more streetable than a big bore n/a LSX or LS7???
Have you even driven a LS7 Vette? It's so...
LS1, bored and stroked would be good for drag racing and street, which is what I will do with it if I do the swap. That being said, "poking and stroking" the LS1 would not be necessary to realize huge gains over anything toyota has to offer .
LS2 ... "complete garbage"??? Kinda critical...
I'd be willing to bet that IJ is right about digi mm's not being able to properly measure this, because that's a way high reading.
On the other hand, I would have thought that the digi mm would give a low read or no read at all, and not a "high false" reading.
Hmmmm...better get your...
