My car hums horribly now. Tried all sorts of different gear oils. Ive talked with alot of people about it, and found out the hum is the reason why toyota put a 3rd bearing support in the car to begin with.

IJ: Well had a wastegate issue on my turbo, so I replaced it. Working great,took the thing out for a drive. Hitting full boost by 2500rpm like I remember yada yada yada. Comming back to the house.. WHAM! SCCREEEEECH. WTF? Turned the car off roll into the drive way.... can't find...

I think holset found out long ago that if you balance the turbo you get nice response. Alot of the garrett diesel turbos are designed to say "online" longer without changing RPMS. 8am what day?

IJ. What the crap are you still doing awake! Any who, I have found that most Holset turbos are pretty balanced. Its the air research and garrett diesel turbos that are NOT MATCHED. I have seen some of the garrett turbos with 100mm turbines, and 50mm compressor wheels. WTF!?!?

If youre just wanting to stick to stock, the felpro will work just fine. DO NOT USE THE STOCK HEAD BOLT. Buy a set of arp bolt or stud kit. If you're going aftermarket, theres tons of info out there. MFGs include Commetic, HKS, and many others.

The guy told me full spool by 4200rpm. I had one on my supra, and had full spool by 3200-3600rpm. Specs on the holset.... Compressor minor/major: 2.077"(52.75mm)/3.0645"(77.84mm) Turbine minor/major: 2.2825"(57.98mm)/2.5670"(65.20mm)

Well another thing to think of too.... Possibly the larger trim means a tad more lag because you are after all trying to rotate a larger mass. Larger wheel takes longer to spin. IJ, that Holset turbo made 450hp on a 2.2 ltr toyota. :-)

Trim smim LOL. Great info IJ! But I just did the trim calculation on my holset hy35w (dodge ram cummins turbo diesel) and it comes out to a 45 trim. BUWHAHAHAHAHHA. That turbo flows enough air for 30+ psi and over 450hp.

Yes if its a low deep funky sound, check to make sure the drive shaft is still bolted nice and tight to the rear end. If its not, you will get some really odd sounds.

I know you wanna send me some of that. That actually looks quite tastey! I don't drink really, but I love the Malibu rum and strawberry any thing. Oh yummy. Oh and jack & coke is awesome. Good thing I can't handle alcohol.
